My job being super anal about the pandemic, even with the vaccines. I'm praying they let us stay working from home until next year and even then, I hope they accept this as the new normal and give us the option of going back into the office or not. I feel we've actually done more since working from home. I'll for sure make my voice heard when they send us out the anonymous surveys about post-pandemic work life.

Even when I DO have to go to the office I'm in from like 10:30-1:30.

Work from home, slaps. I find myself SIGNIFICANTLY happier and more productive to. Not wasting time on bullshyt like educating grown ass people on how voting works. Or having an episode of the Mandalorian spoiled for me as soon as I walked in the door.:francis:

I work from home on Monday’s, woke up at 9. Exempt a domain from our email list, sent like a couple emails, bouta hop on Hulu, play BF1 then finish out this sql table which is going to take like 20minutes tops. In total Im going to do about 40-50 min of work for the day. IT + WFH is such a cheat code to an easy life :mjlol:

back in the office tomorrow though :mjcry:

Find that hard to believe that wasn’t happening pre pandemic :mjlol:

Pretty much whatever issues are happening now have just been exacerbated by the pandemic for the most part . People like to blame the pandemic for shyt ... nahhh that was y’all mofo’s BEFORE this hit . :mjlol: Pandemic has just exposed shyt and made it more readily apparent .

True but when everyone's going through ONLY emails and trying to reach or follow up with key people, it gets annoying
And this is coming from someone who could do his job remotely unending but certain things u gotta come in for
Meetings in person resolve things that day. But offsite...depends on who's available and if everyone has access to all the info needed. With the right people, it'd great. With the wrong people, it takes longer to put out the small fires

Y’all don’t have an centralized information database with departmental sections, an online chat option and a virtual phoneline with mirroring extensions ? :dwillhuh:

... and that’s at the VERY least .

As soon as this shyt hit , organizations that were on their shyt started converting quickly if they didn’t have this stuff in place and/or accessibility measures in place for that kinda stuff .

The only things I know of in my consultant work that those forward thinking organizations have trouble with are specific individuals who don’t reply and respond to shyt . But the virtual , pandemic operations are pretty tight .

Of course we do lol, it's just way more human error

Like people not giving full context or explanation of situations, so we go in one direction. Then they explain it later further revealing new info, change direction. Then out of curiosity follow up with a higher up and learn some bigger picture info, change direction again.

In person it takes an hour to get through the miscommunications.

Online, could take the whole day if you're not asking the right questions

Ok when you emphasized “email only” it just raised a red flag . If people are responsive in group chat or via a voice /vid option you can usually get what you’re looking for... I’ve moreso seen people be TOO EXTRA with clarifications and sending meeting requests during this pandemic era , which often leads to people being less responsive and hence a breakdown in virtual operations .

And you always have to ask the right questions , but I agree , virtually asking the right questions is even more essential during these times .

There's chat/teams/conferences too but it's like the pointpeople for certain things are not always the ones with the right info.

This leads to frustration that I know could be resolved way faster in person. To be great at my job sometimes involve following up on nonverbals like someone is forcing this guy to do this or he's not really sure of what he's doing and then adjusting quickly. The way someone answers gives alot of context.

I'm honestly just venting at this point. I still like working remotely but it has its cons which are really minor compared to the PROs lol
