the movie's greatest strength to me is also its greatest weakness. i love it for what it does but some will hate it. its like after about half the movie its nothing more than a giant over the top series of action set pieces stacked on top of each other. storytelling goes out the window and its a bunch of crazy Matrix Revolutions style fights and explosions.

i mean Superman is basically going up against equals so what else could it be? that's why they'll never top this. the setup for the whole thing was just perfect. this is not a movie that shines for its characters or story telling its like the last action scene of the Avengers for half a movie.

in the theater people were literally sitting at the edge of their seats. the tension was ridiculous and that's crazy that they made a Superman movie so tense. i'm copping on Blu-Ray for sure.

And that was just Superman...

Forget Justice League, just seeing Superman and Batman on the same screen together will be :blessed:

they modernized the superman character. The red underwear is gone, new suit, he had beard... The Clark kent stuff wasn't as big and the way he met Lois and she found out who he was was different. I always thought the whole Clark kent thing was kinda dumb cause no one figured out it was him just in glasses so I thought it was a good thing to let that be less part of the story

Movie was great, I do agree that the bad reviews just seem like bitter people not liking the classic character being changed but I feel like it was necessary to modernize it and put it in a realistic Nolan like universe that can have the justice league involved.

did anyone else think they hinted at a dark superman? I can see justice league movie but also batman vs superman movie on future... Also, Luther probably fixes all the damage from that final battle to gain support from the people even though he will be a bad guy

This is exactly how I felt about the movie. Very good, very enjoyable, but very different.

I liked it, but I didn't feel like I was watching a Superman movie. I felt like I was watching Mass Effect 3: The Movie, honestly.

This is not at all the Superman we grew up on. Not even close. And I couldn't help but think, "Damn this dude looks a lot like that bald pornstar."

Him snapping Zod's neck was evidence of the "darker" Superman you're talking about. And I think you nailed it on the Luthor part. I also love how Lois knows his identity. Them trying to maintain that glasses bullshyt in 2013 wouldn't have worked.

yeah they could top this if they did a Batman / Superman combo movie but i don't thing a solo Superman movie can. i mean they destroyed everything. what more can they do? do the same thing again? how do you challenge Superman? if anybody can get into a physical fight with him its gonna regress into what the second half of this movie was.

maybe introduce Doomsday?

Im noticing that the critics look like you though. Moist.

Why do you need my validation so badly? And :beli:@ you bringing some perceived moistness into this. Just when I thought we were actually going to have an argument without your obsessions getting in the way...

Don't post often but just got back....LOVED IT....ain't nobody trying to watch him slob over Lois at the Daily Planet and trip over stuff on purpose to look clumsy....not again at least if you're adamant about that go see the Christopher Reeve version, which is a classic in its own right

:ooh: This movie will have plenty of mixed reactions.

It's the old school people who look at the traditional superman they were raised on as the bible against the new school people who realized that for superman to work in this generation his character needed to be tinkered with a bit.

We get it, you didn't like it, your services are no longer needed in here. Have a good night.

My last few posts in here were on account of Mowgli repeatedly mentioning me and begging me to respond to him across multiple threads. :yeshrug:

Aim your passive aggression elsewhere, bruh.

Just got back, thought it was good.

I won't go as far as to say it was better than The Dark Knight like some of y'all, but I thought it was as good a job you can do with Superman's origin.

brehs this shyt felt like starcrossed from jlu but turned all the way up and in live action . This is how Superman should be utilized in film. As a gateway to a greater universe that makes us all seem small. Where do you think the phrase "this looks like a job for Superman" comes from. it's all about how the world would really react to an uncontrollable godlike being who is here "to help". less man, more Super. while I'm on the subject of Super, they gonna have to write the hell outta Batman to make him even semi effective in SM's world. I was watching the movie like dam, what the hell can Nolan's Batman do in this situation. he'd b sidekick status. Comic book Superman showed up in this flick, now its time for comic book bats to do the same
