A Miramar man is accused of having sex with a minor between 50-100 times and sending explicit photos of the girl to the child's father because of an ongoing dispute between the two men.
During a first appearance court hearing Thursday, Tavaris Adams, 28, was ordered held at Broward County's Main Jail on a $250,000 bond. He's facing multiple counts of lewd acts with a minor, transmitting child pornography and is accused of threatening to kill the girl's grandmother.
According to a Hollywood police report, the girl's father went to police to complain about Adams having sex with his teenage daughter
Adams began having sex with the 15-year-old girl starting in May 2011 and through August 2012, according to the report. The sex acts took place primarily inside a car and at a Miramar home belonging to Adam's mother, according to the report.
The teen is not being identified because of her age.
According to the report, Adams repeatedly sent the girl's father nude photos of her and text messages describing sexual acts he was performing with the child, according to the report.
He also threatened the girl's grandmother to "shoot her and kill all the babies in the house," according to the police report.
When questioned, the girl initially denied having sex with Adams. She also told police she took the photos herself and sent them to Adams, who would then forwarded the images to the father, the report stated.
The father told police the ongoing feud was over his daughter having a sexual relationship with Adams.
The teen later changed her story and told police that she was having sex with Adams "almost every day," according to the report. She said she initially lied because Adams was threatening her family.
When they first met, the girl told Adams she was 17, the report said. It indicated they continued to have sex even after she admitted being 15.
Adams initially said he was 20, the teen told investigators.
Adams was arrested Wednesday morning after he failed to show up for a probation meeting and allegedly tried to run the girl's grandmother off the road, Broward Assistant State Attorney Eric Linder said in court on Thursday.
During the hearing, Adams repeatedly expressed disbelief and said he didn't do anything.
"This is crazy. I don't know what is going on," Adams said.
He added that he had just finished serving seven months in jail and had been out for only two weeks. He told the judge he had just found a job at a car wash.
Adams is serving probation through 2015 on burglary charges, according to Hollywood police.
