It's bizarre to think that there is legit nostalgia for early internet.

Internet has always been the future.

Now it has a past.. deep enough that people are damn near adults now that are younger than some of the popular stuff from the early web.
The Internet in the 90's and 2000's was the wild west. Digital exploration!

It was more raw. Since we relied on desktop it was more genuine you have to put a lot of effort in your work.

No cancel culture no political correctness no divisive b.s. The internet back then was used to create.

Lack of corporation activity means less restrictions. The internet in the 90's and 00's was a fun escape from reality

Websites like the GeoCities was the pre-cursor to social media

Folks had the opportunity to customize their page with HTML images and tags

It was more individualistic back then. As I remember there was a lot of niche websites.

Compared to modern social media, the older websites at least gave individuals the freedom of expression and privacy control
