I think it’s premature to say, because DR’s prime was cut short. However, I feel like Simon started focusing solely on PAC towards the end when they had a well balanced roster.

The one positive about Suge on the music side is that he had DR releasing content. With a guy like Dr. Dre, who is hesitant to release material to the public, he needed a guy that would put it out.

Man they should have had lady of rage & Nate Dogg ready after that above the rim soundtrack. That soundtrack blew them up.

Also, albums like AEOM and Doggystyle, just to name two, were Rap/R+B records. Check the hooks and samples on them joints. Look at all the singing they had going on on those albums. Some of the session players that they used had r+b backgrounds. They even had former Solar Records people up there and ex-Motown people. Alot of what yall love about DR's sound was the way they incorporated R+B. One of the main producers of Makevelli was and R+B producer and singer who just started making rap while at DR to get more placements. To Live And Die In LA could just as easily be sung to instead of rapped on.
