This is a great scene imo. Dukie's story is heartbreaking because how utterly the system fails him. And the people around him can't help because the system failed them too.

The series repeatedly shows how intelligent, resourceful, and compassionate Bubbles is. Dukie's story is to show that people that end up like Bubbles can be promising kids with futures who don't do anything wrong. Society is obsessed with blaming people's struggles on themselves. Dukie's story accurately reflects the sheer helplessness of it all.

1. not crack. if it was crack, it would be easier to get him off it.
2. cutty was right. dukie was going to fail anyway because learning to box wasnt going to give him what he really needed in that city. also, cutty didnt know anything about life outside the corner or boxing. dookie needed something else.
3. the show is about endless cycles. this is how bubbles was created. that is the point of bringing kids into this. to show other parts of a cycle that you first saw in adult characters

Randy’s story is sad but Randy was cool with the game until he got hurt.

Dukie was never about that life.

And thinking back to my prior post, Randy is probably the new Marlo or Avon.

i think randy is either prop joe or stringer bell. he is too businessminded and not really respected by any of the street kids to be marlo.

By the time Randy would have hit the streets, that snitchin shyt would have been forgotten about as a new generation (relatively speaking) would have been on the corners.

I would be surprised if Marlo himself had broken a street code as a youngin and paid some price for it.
