NBA betting opus: Everything you need to know

• According to Las Vegas bookmakers and professional bettors, sharp NBA bettors almost exclusively target totals, over/unders for both the first half and full game and rarely bet the day-to-day point spreads.

• 54.23: The percentage of games coached by Quin Snyder that have stayed under the total (146 overs, 173 unders).

• 56.90: The percentage of Memphis Grizzliesgames that have gone over the totals under Bickerstaff (78 overs, 61 unders).

• 58.64: The percentage of Bickerstaff games that have gone over the total in the first half (78 overs, 55 unders).

• 56.79: The percentage of Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer's games that have stayed under in the first half (105 overs, 138 unders).

• 61.18: The percentage of games officiated by Mitchell Ervin that have gone over the total (93 overs, 59 unders) in the last five seasons.

• 61.20: The percentage of games officiated by Eric Dalen that have gone under the total (142 unders, 90 overs) in the past five seasons.

Bro, you gotta start taking underdogs and mix them in.

That's the only way you will win consistently....seriously.

Vegas/Sportsbooks WANT you to take the favorite. You have to pick your spots.

I been tryna tell him.

Underdogs cover lot more thsn favorites.

With underdogs u got two chances to win. If you bet the favorite you got one small chance to win if they cover

My approach to underdogs is relatively simple (mostly for spreads +10 and under):

If I feel like the team can/will win the game outright, I take the 'dog.

So those extra points I get, I consider it as a cushion/bonus.

Last week, I felt that Seattle, Buffalo, and Arizona would all win their respective games straight up. 2 out of 3 won, but all covered....however, Seattle led for a good chunk of the game anyway

I bet against Bama last 3 weeks and won with teams beating the spread. You gotta take the dogs sometimes, not necessarily to win but to beat the line. My buddy I bet with parlays games like he’s betting the money line and not the spread.. just picks all the favorites and never hits his tickets.

I'm betting the 1st half under 21.5 for AF/SDSU. 2 teams with good run defenses that love to run the ball. The total O/U is 44 (and likely to fall) and that's a little low for me.

I'll parlay that with USF as soon as that number falls to 7.

Wow. SDSU gets a punt block TD with 8 seconds left in the half, making it 14-9 and ruining the 1st half under. If my 2 teamer was still alive I'd be distraught.
