Nah shots didn't need to be fired, there were multiple cops there, not one of them attempted to clear the area beforehand per the body cam, the guns were out though. You mean to tell me the other officers there couldn't grab the girl and get her to the ground. All of the action went down right in front of them. She had a knife not a pistol.

Reading through these comments, a lot of people are showing their true colors. The reason he shot that girl 4 times was not to “eliminate the threat,” but because they see black people as some type of wild animals who don’t feel pain. They’re used to shooting bear, bison and moose, and they think of black bodies in the same way.
Also like a few others have said, had this been some white people, they would’ve done everything they could to preserve their life.

Nothing is going to come of this. The cop shot to protect that girl. The fact that Makiyah called them is irrelevant. This photo right here pretty much ends the discussion. It is super sad that this young girl died, but it is arguable she was about to take a life.

We can go back and forth all day about whether he could have used a taser, or fired a warning shot. But at the end of the day would any prosecutor charge him with anything? Absolutely not.

I think most if not everyone agrees the force was too much. He shouldn’t be a cop, especially one with a gun.

The issue is the law and the training is on the side of the officer. A person’s life was in imminent danger and he acted within the law to neutralize the threat. He didn’t know how old she was, if that was her house, etc. He clearly should have assessed the situation better.

Just as much of an issue are the dusty adults who actively participated and encouraged the fight. I think their reaction is also telling. None of them really freaked out after the poor girl was shot. They didn’t even spaz on the cop like that.

Was there any other method to stop that girl from attempting to stab that other girl?

Yes possibly a taser. But cops can respond with deadly force when someone is wielding a knife.

This is a tragic situation all around the cop could have let the girl stab the other chick. I feel like most people here would have prefer that rather than a cop shooting a black girl.
