Now Boston obviously approved it because they're :mjpls: and don't want anything properly representing Black people in their city.

Artist is wylin big time. Why can't they ever get black people statues and paintings right? Reminds me of the Barry O and Michelle paintings. I love that black artists want to do something different and that's cool at times. But when you do something centered around our legends, just stick to what we're all used to please. This isn't where you should be experimenting. Even the MLK statue with his arms crossed in DC, I mean its cool. But when have we ever seen MLK in that type of pose? MLK wasn't a proud man overlooking the people. The statue gives the wrong impression of him in my opinion. It's the wrong feeling and aura for MLK.

His voice breaking, he know he effed up:pachaha:

That was his idea though and they went with it. If he didn't want it he shouldn't have sculpted it and said that's what he wanted.

And dude is probably one of those "be cool by refusing to replicate reality" types that hates strict replication of a subject so he went with something that looks hideous to avoid just sculpting what actually happened in a clear way.

Also there's a reason why cacs hate the MLK statue in DC and love this one. Because King isn't some happy go lucky negro in the other statute he's making the stone face like any sensible Black person would at cacs. :hmm:

Meanwhile this abstract mess is nothing.
