It actully hurt me to see Don slip that vodka into his orange juice

:to:

He's now just a well dressed wino...

I am so confused about what happened in that last scene between Pete and "Bob Benson"

:dahell:

Is he really gay? Did he really have feelings for Pete? Is he an FBI agent or some sh1t?

nikka is essentially Don Draper in different form. Don is pretending to be someone else whereas Bob is a nobody pretending to be a somebody. Pete knows about Don's history though and flopped when he tried to expose him. He learnt his lessons and took up a "if you can't beat them, join them" approach.

Probably quite wise in all fairness. Now Benson can, and most probably will, carry on scheming and Campbell will be immune from any effects. He'll also benefit from his mother staying away from that Manolo nikka.

Kinda have to hand it to the nikka Pete, he played this one well :ehh:

Pete tugging at his suit jacket the moment he realized he finally knows the game was straight :wow:

This show man.....when it goes off, we're going to look back on it and tell ourselves we were viewers of one of the greatest written show ever.

Okay I kinda get that.. But what about the whole gay angle? Was that part of Benson's scheme or was that legit?

Why was Pete apologizing to him? Does he just respect or fear the guys ambition? He didn't want to work with him at all when he thought he was a hard working, genuine, well trained, professional homo.. But when he finds out he's a fradulent, inexperienced, inbred, homo he apologizes and forms an alliance with him?

Then Pete paid Duck $1,000 (an exorbitant amount of money in 1968) for information he will never use...

And when Bob got exposed and says "give me atleast 24 hours" and Pete said " I can't imagine the damage you'd do in 24 hours" what was that about?

A) He apologized for calling him a homo as Benson said you should watch what you say to people. Whether or not hes a real homo is irrelevant. He is coming to grips with the fact he cant win. Even if he tried an exposal hed be cast off as a miserable, threatened hater.
B) As far as pete is concerned, he put that info to the best use possible
C) Bob Benson was gonna disappear and wanted a 24 hour headstart

None of these answers satisfy my curiosity but thanks anyway...

Part of what makes this show so great.. When things are presented so simply I'm always searching for something hidden or deeper..

:why: What else could he mean by asking for a headstart?
Right after Peter said something about continuously running away...like he ran away from West Virginia back then.

What other way is there to use the info? It's either he plays tattle tale or he keeps the information as an extortion tactic. He chose the latter.

I don't know, for all the L's Pete has taken this series I don't blame him for spending a grand to finally get a win, even if he basically tripped into it by mistake lol.

Another interesting dynamic is how we emulate/become those we look up to, or mentor.

Case in point, Don and Roger. Roger has been minimalized over the last couple of seasons because Don is essentially becoming the same character. Roger mentored him, and sure enough, he's following footsteps. Don does little to nothing at the office each day, but is still vital to the agency, much like Roger in the earlier seasons. He's even well on the way to having a shytty relationship with his daughter, much like Roger.

Now, there's Bob who clearly wanted Don to take him under his wing (which makes me wonder just how much he knows about Don's past), and is following his career/life path. Don's personality was shaped by a father who wasn't able to hide his faults from him, and a mother who wasn't terribly concerned with raising him. It's the exact same situation Don and Betty have with Sally.

This show is making a serious attempt to take down The Wire as the greatest show ever.

I've gone back and watched S1 over again this last 2 weeks (season 1-3 are OD on sky in the UK :smugdraper: ), just on the season finale atm. But the very 1st ep when Dininon says

" You're born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts. But I never forget. I'm living like there's no tomorrow, because there isn't one"

:damn:

And how :mindblown: how things have been for Dininon this season and how it relates to that point he said in the 1st ep .

I just wonder how everything turns out for Dininon for next season, does he 'kill' himself and thus becomes dikk Whitman again or he become someone new or he just dies :sadbron:
