The Furiosa tie-in comic dropped this week. It wasn't as revealing as the Nux/Immortan Joe stories since it tells nothing about Furiosa's past (it only confirms that she once was one of Immortan Joe's wives before the current five). Basically the story is about the five wives in the months before the events of Fury Road as Immortan Joe employs Furiosa to keep an eye on them (specifically Miss Giddy, the elderly woman who teaches the girls) and how she slowly starts to relate to the hope they still have for a better world. There's a couple of weird/poor decisions in this book too, they sorta hint that Immortan Joe has a sexual thing for his War Boys which is very iffy to me, and I mentioned somewhere in one of my eight hundred posts on the movie how I liked that Rictus was portrayed as a simpleton, but not a "durr durr" kinda guy, and the latter is of course exactly how they chose to depict him in the book. So like the first issue, it's an alright read that gives slightly more info on the events preceding the movie, but at least the mysteries of Furiosa largely remain intact.

Artwork From The Cancelled MAD MAX: FURIOSA Anime Finds Its Way Online

George Miller originally envisioned a Mad Max: Fury Road prequel which would have focused on Charlize Theron's character, Imperator Furiosa. Obviously that didn't come together, but an anime version was also planned, and you can see how that would have looked right here...

We never got to see Mad Max: Furiosa, and we most likely won't ever get to see the anime that was set to be developed when the live-action version fell through - but we do have some artwork from concept illustrator Mahiro Maeda, which gives us some idea how the characters of Furiosa and Immortan Joe would have been depicted in the movie.

You could argue that Fury Road focused more on Furiosa than Max anyway, but there's definitely an intriguing backstory there (how did she lose that arm for one?) so hopefully we get to revisit this great character in some capacity in the future.
