Was that chrome they were spraying in their mouths ?? I had someone cross my row the first time they used it so I thought it was some kind of painspray . By the way Nicholas hoult deserves a ton of credit I was kind of
at him in the trailer but damn did I misjudge him and the character , (low voice ) witness me
Do you think the trailers might be hurting the movie ? I don't think it brings across how great a movie and story it is just mostly plays up the nonstop insanity . I hope the box office gets us the trilogy
The trailers seen in IMAX was what sold me the movie. But this movie was a hard sell anyway due to it being a R-rated film from a franchise 30 years ago.
There's people in their 30's who were too young to ever seen any Mad Max movie. So it's a hard sell.
Also, yes it was chrome. It's part of the Warboys cult war religion. They believed that they're called to die in combat and through their death they'll get honored and born again covered in chrome.
Nukz, Nicholas Hoult's character, was disillusioned with himself because he thought he saw his calling to die for Immortan Joe, one by Immortan himself, 3 times and he survived while witnessing Immortan being as flawed as his was by accidentally killing one of the wives.
What some people may be overlooking is despite a small simplistic plot, there's deep complex levels and depth into all of these characters, that society, their culture, and the moral ambiguity of the social-political environment that exists there.
Also, the entire movie serves as an allegory in how to face adversity. You can run away from it or go through it head on. Everyone in the movie had an escapist agenda. Max and his past, Furiosa and her history, the wives and their oppression, Nukz and his awakening. Max accepted the belief that hope is all lost and running away only makes you insane. Then he came with the epiphany that instead of running away from your problems we should face and go through them head on. It's not going to be easy, but once you conquer you own problems you'll get rewarded. That entire return back to the Citadel was a metaphor about that and the quote at the end summarize the entire allegory of the movie.
