That's like saying someone can't say Ali is the greatest boxer and then fight him. Of course you can. Fronting on a legend's status in a diss would look corny. You can make your points and still show respect to their legacy

Good point. I’m just more partial to battle rap that has no respect for someone’s legacy or skill. Part of the reason why I’ll always put Ether over Takeover is because when Jay dissed Nas you can tell he still had a level of respect for Nas and his standing in the game. The tone was “I’m a huge fan and i looked up to you but you disappointed me.”

Whereas with Ether, Nas had no respect or acknowledgment of Jays skill or accomplishments. The tone of Ether was “you are complete trash and you are beneath me.” I just like that ultra super disrespectful shyt even if it’s hyperbolic
