Call me naive but I thought rap/hip hop documented the oppression faced by a certain group in America through music.

You're being naive breh :francis:

Al that fight the power shyt ended a looong time ago.

Rap is the most capitalism friendly genre today and it contains all the values fueled by capitalism today, including that "young forever" mentality.

You Just said a whole bunch of nothing.
Competition doesn't make something a sport.
In Sports you physically cant perform your job once you get old.
You can rap at any age as long as you have a functional brain and a mouth.
And yes it is Art foremost.
my dude its cats golfing at 80 yo.

Act like battle raps is not a sport.

Act like cats dont prep before a battle.

Act like people dont cheer for their fav.

Act like somebody who starts rapping after 40 would be taken seriously as an artist, breh.

I wont call you naive, but hip hop is more than "The Message".

And thats music in general See Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, Gil Scott Heron, Curtis Mayfield etc.

At the end of the day rapping is a competition to see whos the best.

If this wasnt he case nobody would want to strive getting recognized at being the best.

I always knew rap was entertainment. However, there were some rappers who were journalists documenting the world around them.

Rappers were once meant to culture pioneers. But how exclusive is fukking the same bytch, drinking the same “exclusive” liquor, going to same exclusive getaway, and wearing the same exclusive clothes? The corporations took its enemy Originality and Uniqueness and conquered them and made them Ubiquitous. It’s the same song over the same beat by clowns who are honestly indistinguishable.

I bet we won’t complain when they hint that we all look alike again. This is what being conquered looks like.

that's what being jiggy is all bout, corporate conformity :mjcry:
