His brand is built on artists seeking institutional backing from the jump. Ross, Hov, and Ye represent old school A&R reliant on major label push (AKA Lyor & Co in their pockets). Notice he kept pushing for an A&R artist development comeback and common denominator in interview questions that triggered his uncomfortable reactions were self-sufficient black men (Dame, Rich the Kid, Drake) who blew themselves up.

exactly... i never had a problem with this guy, cause he ain't gonna lie to you at all.. i remember nore telling the story of nore being hot... flaming hot at the time... lyor loves him, invites him to his personal home... then proceeds to tell nore, "if you ain't hot next year, you won't ever be back here again"
