I skimmed through the album earlier, gonna absorb it fully later, but it sounds VERY good. To me it sounds like Lupe's best work. This seems VERY good.
the best thing about Lupe's music, and the reason it retains such heavy replay value, is that there's NO way you're gonna catch all the allusions, subtle symbolism, undertones, or metaphors off one listen... you gotta let this shyt soak into your soul
you actually have to listen to Lupe differently than you would most MC's just because he packs in so many little gems and easter eggs into what would otherwise be considered just another rhyme that it may go over your head if you just casually have one ear to the music
I was listening to Failure like 3 years after it dropped and still catching little slick wordplay and references
BUT even at its surface, when taken at face value, it's STILL really dope music accessible to most... and that's what makes him so great, there's a little something for everyone
Black Panthers, Black Anthems, Black Blues
With Black Answers from Black Stanzas, Langston Hughes
Breakin rules, ain't it cool
Took it old, and made it new
Black Painters, musical Black Anger
Black Mothers, Beautiful Black Anchors
So let's hear it for em, let's hear it for em
let's hear it for em, let's hear it for em
