Hands down.

The best "interludes" I've ever heard.

Why has no one thought to make NON-LYRICAL interludes?

Think about it.

Everyone is either doing skits or talking about dumb shyt.

Lupe just gave nikkas something to cleanse that palette...and it was just so nourishing :noah:

For rill, some of the interludes are beautiful, but haunting. Great music

The album is ok to me so far...I mean I loved the lupe that made food and liquor and the cool and I felt like he fell off a little after that.On this album he has returned to form but like some others saying it feels forced like he heard the criticism and turned it up to 11. Which is a problem lyrically because you can clearly see in his writing that hes trying to twist words on purpose to be overly complex.

I know half of yall in here have written a rap in your life and probably have had moments where you could have turned a simple statement into your own personal puzzle that wasnt hard for you to understand since you wrote it. This is the first problem starting off with this album and the main one. The other is having something to actually talk about besides just lyrically flexing the entire time. I mean its cool but music is a escape to most people and if you have a message it should be relatable from the jump not a project after you buy the album

Old songs like streets on fire was cool not just for lyricism but trying to find out what the streets actually personified. It could be looked at in the multitude of ways and still make sense, but it had something behind it. This album is just lupe trying to come off as overly complex for no reason at all. Remember what einstein said it takes a genius to make something simple. If you have to get complex when your explaining something than you really dont understand it that well. Dont get me wrong album def has some great lines and great moments but i can feel alot of gaps between those times

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on the album. I like it, I think its a very good album, but at the same time I feel like its missing something. Its just overly complex for apparently no reason, at all. And while some of you enjoy getting your minds blown by a rap artist when you finally figure out what they meant with this line or that line, or the fact that there is an actual debate in this very thread on if the album should be played backwards is just to much for me, I guess. I don't really listen to music for those type of experiences, it shouldn't be a chore to figure out the concept for an album.

Yeah, I'm running Youth & Tetsuo right now, and I don't wanna jump to any conclusions because it's the first time, but at first blush it DOES seem to flow a bit better than Tetsuo & Youth. Funny that @GoldenGlove brought up making a separate playlist, cause I was thinking of doing the same thing.

So you're saying because the bars aren't straightforward that it's just ok? Like... you sat here and really tried to dock points because you don't "get" everything after a few spins?

No not saying that all im saying is even after a few spins its not that relatable especially with him coming off as cryptic as he does its not even fun to decypher it. And with people talking about listening to the album backwards how is this fun to yall?

solid album but some of the beats are just blah to me...none of em are wack...they're all good enough to get your head noddin....but not much here that willl blow you away. some of these beats sound like the type of shyt you'd hear on a new roots album...a little generic and on the safe side. little death and body of work are classics though. lupe really spittin, even if he does go overboard sometimes. i'll come back after a week and see how I feel.

There's enough music to consume being made now a days that's straightforward and to the point... we've been listening to it for years now. So yes, it's refreshing and fun for me to listen to this album. It's like a thought provoking film that inspires discussion on it.

You don't have to like it though (obviously), I'm sure a lot of people won't bother with this album.
