One of my favorite songs on the album


The video for it sucks though.

Lupe flow on Madonna is just crazy af. And the beat sounds like some MBDTF leftover but it's still ill as fukk. The atmostphere of it, plus the airy hook is almost like sensory overload.


I'll be honest, I'm kinda biased to this song cuz I've put my moms through mad shyt to the point where she told me she thought she'd have to get that phone call and bury me.
I been locked up stressing, on the phone/sending kites home trying to get a couple dollars, explaining my lawyer / case situation when it seemed like nobody but mom dukes had a nikka back, so listening to this shyt be having a young nikka on


And yeah I thought the video was trash too, (at first) I kind of expected something in the hood, wit more of US in it...or even a biblical type of take on the video, but it's Lupe, and knowing he likes to challenge his fans & come outta left field, I kind of dig the whole concept. Like "instead of just showing the hood side, lets show a WHITE struggle...and instead of having it obviously show the son relying on the mother, lets show it the other way around..." I think that's ill, that he's not afraid to challenge the expected and make shyt universal like that.


And I think I would marry Nikki Jean

I don't even have an issue with him flipping the race scenario in the video, I just really didn't like how the song's lyrics and the story of the song is basically the exact opposite from the visual.

I just took it as him trolling, and nothing serious.

I know I'm late (fukk y'all) but the layers on this shyt is incredible. I thought Lupe was just being fake-deep when he mentioned having 4 or 5 narratives going at once throughout the album. But there's literally so many ways to interpret the overall project, from beginning to end, or end to beginning.



1. The Cool/The Game/The Streets narrative
2. Lupe's life & label situation narrative
3. Trying to control one's life, the concept of death, ressurection and trying to reach Nirvana (life being like a video game) narrative
4. The story of the coming/life/death of the Messiah narrative
5. A drug user going through it and trying to get clean & live a better life narrative (this one went over my head until I noticed the amount of drug references on damn near every song)


Literally, you can listen to the entire album through any of these perspectives, separately or at once, and it's INCREDIBLE. And side note, I thought it was dope, but it never really hit me, what the title and hook on "Blur My Hands" really meant, but I knew that the song was referencing the label holding Lupe back



Towards the end, when he references the label exec and refers to him as the character from Falling Down (the movie) realizing his mistake and trying to reach back out to Lupe, to the hook...Song is just one long extended metaphor. A really elaborate way of saying that the label said "fukk you" to Lupe with how they handled his situation, so this song is saying "fukk you" right back to Atlantic.

Were you just saying fukk me? That's cool, that middle finger just means I'm number one, and you're a fan. That's cool, cause it's fukk you too...and peace.

This is a good album but the videos he's made have been terrible. Just awful. I get what he's doing artistically in them but a good music video should be something I'd actually ever want to see again after the first viewing. Entertaining.

Adoration of the Magi, Deliver are decent videos to me.

I don't like that Madonna video though, but ironically, I think the best video he's done in the last year was for that Next 2 It song with Ty$
