Kendrick's album is really good but T&Y....Lupe just..........delivers
I give both an A+ and label them masterpieces, but T&Y is better . Obviously I'm biased, but to me T&Y has more spotless gems on it, and as a rap fan, I'm far more impressed with untouchable rapping and layered themes and concepts than I am with genre blending and an album long story line. From a skill stand point, what Lupe did was rap on a level no one else before him has ever reached. I also find the songs to be more fun to listen to from a hook and production stand point. TPAB is obviously more cohesive and its narrative direct, topical, and digestible. Though both are great rap albms, they're pretty different. Apples to oranges really, but if you're goign to compare, If T&Y is a 100, TPAB is a 98. There's small things I don't like about TPAB(some hooks, for example). There is no criticism I have of T&Y. Even Famlay's verse on Chopper isn't bad to me.
If I really had to take the BEST of THE BEST my list would look something like....
T&Y
1. Mural
2. Dots & Lines
3. Prisoner 1 2
4. Body of work
6.. Little Death
7. Madonna
8. Adoration of The Magi
9. TRON
10. Chopper
TPAB
1. Wesley's Theory
2. Instituonalized (I really hate the hook, but the rest of it is just too good)
3. These Walls
4. U
5. For Sale?
6. Momma
7. Mortal Man
8. Blacker the Berry
9. You Ain't gotta Lie
10. How Much a Dollar Cost?
And the rest of the songs are also great. I was just nitpicking when making these lists. If I was making a top 10 list including both albums, I'd say 6 or 7 would be from T&Y. And the songs that didn't make the cut I prefer from T&Y. For example, I like Blur My Hands and Deliver a lot more than King Kunta and "I".
