Alright brehs. After 16 listens of my favorite album ever, I feel relatively comfortable with this list. It's in relative order.
Masterclass (5/5)
1. T.R.O.N.
2. Body of Work
3. Prisoner 1 & 2
4. Mural
5. Dots & Lines
Excellent (5/5)
6. Little Death
7. Chopper
8. Blur My Hands
9. Adoration of The Magi
Great (4/5)
10.Deliver
11.No Scratches
12.Madonna(and Other Mothers In The Hood)
Still can't get over how amazing this album is, but having heard it so much I can now pinpoint miniscule critiques I have. They are minor and barely worth mentioning, but perfection doesn't exist, so yeah.
1. I wish there was more to the third verse of no scratches. He could've gone even further with the imagery and word play centered around fast cars/crashes etc but kinda just let the song breathe instead.
2. Famlay's verse is the only aspect of this album I don't anticipate with every listen. It's the least interesting, least energetic, and probably least impressive verse on Chopper. Remove Famlay's verse and this album is more or less flawless to my ears.
3. Prisoner 2 is so dope that I wish it was a little longer
4. Despite TRON being my favorite song on the album, I would have preferred Soul went second rather than have the final verse on the entire album. An average verse at that. I don't hate it like you guys hate it though because it makes me laugh and I like his energy and flow. Makes up for the fact he ain't really saying shyt.
5. This is nitpicking heavy, but there is one small change I would have made to the album's sequencing. If I could, I would've swapped Deliver and Madonna on the track listing. I feel the energy was so dark and heavy on Chopper that Deliver matching that same tone immediately, while keeping the feel consistent, feels a tad redundant. Putting Madonna directly after Chopper would have toned down the tempo and given Winter more of an up and down roller coaster vibe. Then right after Madonna you go into why the son died and how he was a product of the ghetto through Deliver. Then you lower the tempo and lighten the mood again with Adoration before turning up one more time for TRON. Plus "Madonna Delivered the Adoration of The Magi" makes more sense sequentially anyway. Again, very minor nitpick as it could easily be argued that having chopper/deliver back to back then madonna/adoration back to back and ending with tron makes for a more consistent tone.
6. Madonna would be the best song on a lot of people's albums. The fact I have such a thoughtful, well put together, emotional, and catchy song as the worst on the album is testament to how highly I think of Tetsuo & Youth.
