Lupe Fiasco says F&LII is NOT a true sequel to F&L, it was "marketing" move

11 things we learned from Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor 2 listening session

It’s a sequel, but not really: “This was never called Food & Liquor 2,” explained Lupe after a writer asked about its connection to 2006's Food & Liquor. "We only named it F&L2 so you would ask me, ‘Hey, is this like part two?’ It’s raw marketing.” Lupe did go on, though, to point out the connection. “Food and liquor—the duality of good and bad in the world—is still an overarching principle for me in life. So to reintroduce it, it still carries the same story that Food & Liquor has. But the real focus is Great American Rap Album. I'm not trying to make a revival."

Very disappointed when I read this :smh:

Dude is great at marketing like tricking his fans into believing that he hated lasers to do a 180 spin and say that he hated the process of how one single was made and how much he had to fight to get it out .

This is the problem with Lupe, dude has probably always been corny as fukk but I wasn't really paying attention to his mouth until he started dropping average music.
I just wish he could shut the fukk up and stop acting like a 17 year old CAC emo born with a silver spoon in his mouth. And go back to being the illest rapper in the game.

There is at least one “masterpiece” on the album (according to Lupe): “I don’t need any comments. I don’t need your 'Thank yous.' That isn't ego.” said Lupe before playing the Infamous-produced “Form Follows Function.” “This is the masterpiece. It’s my favorite record on the album.”

Most of F&L 2 was recorded at the same time as Lasers: Lupe had separate folders on his computer for Lasers and F&L2. “We hit this wall with the label and it was like, ‘I need to create something out of this headspace,’ admits Lupe, who told the crowd he listened to Lasers more than any of his other albums. “I hated [Lasers] because of the process. It’s like slaves who make sugar. It’s like, “Sugar’s delicious!” and a slave is like, “I hate sugar!”

This dude is pathetic

In what world does being a sequel to Food and Liquor affect the music? Do you people who were never fans in the first place feel betrayed because he didn't intend it to be FNL2? What's going on here?

It's more the fact that you know he's hedging his bets, because if this album gets critically panned you know he'll be saying ":scusthov: Oh that was all Atlantic they forced me to do it"

Just like fukking Lasers, which is a travesty of an album

why are people shocked @ a dude who's basically came into the rap sh!t as a gimmick. he tried to make the world believe that he was a skateboarder when he wasn't even that.
