Lupe Fiasco “kendrick is not a top tier lyricist to me”

I don't recall Lupe ever getting super burn in the streets. At least not in NY. And I be in, and hang with dudes, from all parts of NYC and Jers. Kendrick has dropped music that I've seen bumped in the pjs of Harlem, Brownsville, the Bronx. Cars passing by bumping DNA...Summer days hearing trucks passing by with "bytch don't kill my vibe" blasting through the speakers. DNA...Be humble..."ya bish...ya bish...". I've witnessed that. I've had nikkas come through to smoke and drink and ask me to throw on To Pimp A Butterfly. Or Damn. Or GKMC. NEVER witnessed that with Lupe. Even at the height of his popularity. I'm sorry. I'm being 100% honest. Lupe just doesn't make music that most people care for. And I'm including real Hip Hop heads like me and my homies. Dudes that love Nas, Black Thought, Pun...we ain't feeling Lupe. nikkas fukk with Kendrick. I was a fan of Lupe until he started making nerd rap. He has the ability to make music as good as Kendrick but he's too full of himself. He chooses to make super dense and abstract crap that only a fringe sector of Hip Hop fans find appealing. This dude just tweeted that the best on Earth right now is Aesop Rock. Aesop Rock, bro. And that's not surprising because that's what Lupe has devolved to: a late 90's/early 2000's nerd underground rapper.

That's why this thread is super puzzling. Well, not the thread itself....it was started by a Drake stan to passive aggressively criticize Kendrick, but I digress....

I mean Lupe's logic. Out of his own mouth he only cares about bars....he doesn't have any interest in actually making "good music". By his own admission, Kendrick makes better music. So....why criticize any aspect of Kendrick? They're not trying to do the same thing. It would be like if Kendrick randomly Tweeted about Lupe never achieving the critical acclaim and success he did....it's like....no shyt? While it's 100% true that's not what Lupe is going for.

Never said Kick, Push didn't get love in the hood. It did get some. But not to the level some of Kendrick shyt has. I see groups of young girls in the hood singing Be Humble. I see dudes talking to each other and randomly saying "ya bish". The homies sometime throw on Swimming Pools and laugh because sometimes we take it too far with the drinking. nikkas in front the liquor store playing Kendrick. I simply don't recall shyt like that with anything Lupe crafted. Where do you live now Spliz and were you in East New York during Lupe's height?

To be fair. Lupe is full of shyt. Lupe also said he’s “sorta ok” at rapping when he doesnt believe that himself. He’s also said out his own mouth that T&Y was better than anybody elses shyt out at the time. Now he’s on this “I dont care about making good music” schtick. He’s one of them nikkas who will lose a race and act like he never cared about the race. Plus he’s a big ass annoying troll sometimes. Lupe has 3 extremely good albums imo. F&L, The Cool, and T&Y. And thats both lyrically and musically. Kendrick’s output is better cause he’s more consistent while Lupe has several duds.

I was in East NY at Lupe’s height and I live in the Bronx right now. And outside of the singles on GKMC and Be Humble and I forgot about DNA. His shyt dont be blaring out nikkas whip like that.

However, I think you fail to see that Lupe is a lil' nutty. He only get's mad when he thinks he's not getting any props. The hood relates with K-Dot, not Lupe. He's mad at the fact that he did have a track for the soundtrack Black Panther but it was denied. Now he's just venting and putting others down. It's not our fault that he didn't pick or choose the right beats or acting with the Tribe backlash. He has skills and that I will never deny but he made stupid decisions and is now lashing out.

Be Humble and DNA. He wasnt getting this overwhelming amount of play in the hood like that. shyt. Drake got more play in the hood than Kendrick as much as people try to say otherwise on here. I will agree on that. Drake definitely gets more play than Kendrick in the hood. He gets more play than most artists period in the hood.
