Like dude you fukked up, it's ok. He started talking about how he was hated cuz he's new school and doesn't fit in a certain box or some shyt, it wasn't that serious.

That's basically my thoughts on the whole issue.

I love Lupe but dude has some weird opinions. The way he tried to defend himself after the Tribe backlash when he performed and forgot the words? Instead of just saying he messed up and forgot the words and he was sorry, he went onto this whole tirade about how he didn't listen to "that easy coast backpack rap" growing up and grew up with "west coast gangsta rap" like NWA and Ice Cube instead.

That whole situation was strange.

Lupe is a weird dude.

One of the strangest moments in the saga of Lupe Fiasco.

Almost as bad as the time he went and made his twitter private, calling it
his "country". And anyone who dared disagree with him got the boot
and they were told to go to the Lupe Fiasco facebook if they didn't agree
with him because he didn't personally run that.

Or when he told his fans (paraphrasing here..) "Y'all don't
tell me what to do, I'll drop the mixtape when I feel like it", and went
on to say "This is your punishment" or some goofy shyt like that and
didn't drop the tape for months.

Or when he started a punk band.

Or openly admitted he didn't care for Hip-Hop that much and liked Dj'ing and Rock more

Or the plethora of "I'm really deep" twitter posts that would make Jaden Smith blush.

The past decade of Lupe Fiasco has been a condescension,pretension, commercial
flop,smart dumb statement filled one.

That's not to say nothing good came out of it, we at least got Tetsuo & Youth.

I dont believe people ARE listening to Lupe more in the streets than Kendrick now. But I do believe he was listened to more in the streets when he was poppin. From 06-08. Overall. Definitely imo. This isnt to diss Kendrick or none of that shyt. In reality. My point is NONE of this matters. Like I said. The streets fukk wit Schoolboy Q the most out of anyone in TDE. But that dont mean he’s a better artist or has better albums than Kendrick.

I don't recall Lupe ever getting super burn in the streets. At least not in NY. And I be in, and hang with dudes, from all parts of NYC and Jers. Kendrick has dropped music that I've seen bumped in the pjs of Harlem, Brownsville, the Bronx. Cars passing by bumping DNA...Summer days hearing trucks passing by with "bytch don't kill my vibe" blasting through the speakers. DNA...Be humble..."ya bish...ya bish...". I've witnessed that. I've had nikkas come through to smoke and drink and ask me to throw on To Pimp A Butterfly. Or Damn. Or GKMC. NEVER witnessed that with Lupe. Even at the height of his popularity. I'm sorry. I'm being 100% honest. Lupe just doesn't make music that most people care for. And I'm including real Hip Hop heads like me and my homies. Dudes that love Nas, Black Thought, Pun...we ain't feeling Lupe. nikkas fukk with Kendrick. I was a fan of Lupe until he started making nerd rap. He has the ability to make music as good as Kendrick but he's too full of himself. He chooses to make super dense and abstract crap that only a fringe sector of Hip Hop fans find appealing. This dude just tweeted that the best on Earth right now is Aesop Rock. Aesop Rock, bro. And that's not surprising because that's what Lupe has devolved to: a late 90's/early 2000's nerd underground rapper.

As far as the thread, if I remember correctly Lupe said Kendrick makes better music than him....so who is a "top tier lyricist" is ultimately a useless metric.
