its just like when people say Lloyd Banks cant make good music but only punchliness....ok so what you saying? Maybe thats just not his lane to spit punchlines...

Biggie has plenty of punchlines and he's boring as fukk to me :manny:

Pac has no punchlines and he's in my top 2...Nas has some shytty punchlines and he's my favorite of all time...Jigga has so many punchlines and his music also bores me at times.

Lupe the most lyrical nikka alive but i can only listen to him like for a week every year...like an entire weeks worth of time spread out thru a year.

No Father To MY Style.. A Son Unique
i see what he's saying but i would retort by asking, why would punchline and double-entendre be the be-all end-all of lyricism? i see them as just a tool (among MANY others) within the craft of song-writing (which is what lyricism really is. song-writing). Cube and Scarface had some very direct lyrics a lot of times but are some of the best lyricists to ever do it in my humble opinion. They used words and delivery to evoke emotion masterfully. not everyone has to rap the same way with using the same styles and arsenal. I guess the bigger question is, is "lyricism" strictly about showing off how clever and witty you are with words?
Very True. Same people say pac wasnt a lyricist because he didnt use these every line even tho he has probably the deepest songs in hip hop... so glad im out of that backpacker elitist phase
