billy ocean, all jokes aside, what was the first rap song you ever learned or what was the first artist you liked? cuz I truly believe you haven't experienced hip hop music with some of the stuff you're typing. It's cool, cuz a lot of Mayweahter fans call me a hater and claim he's the best ever, unknown that I'd been follwing his career since 96 olympics, from his pro debut, to him fighting every 2 weeks on TNF to undercards, to HBO "slave wages" to where he is now. I'm just not a big fan. When I mention guys like SRR , Duran, Leonard, or Armstrong, they don't have a clue. They don't know at one point it was only 8 weight classes with 1 belt per class compared to 18 classes and 4 per class today. At this point in his career, KL could release an r&b album and you guys would swear it's better than anything Stevie Wonder has ever done. I saw them do it with Andre 3k.

You wanna expose kendrick you gotta do it asymetrically. Make a thread like "What kendrick lines do you see producers sampling on a track 10 years from now?"

You can't be straightforward with it, won't work. This is the twitter era

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
Again...lies. Not even remotely true. I'm mostly known as the avid Wu/Nas dude. And no, he is not my GOAT. Not even in my Top 10. But I can't even argue with anyone placing him in their Top 10. He's been that good so far in his career.

So, then, I ask, why argue with people that aren't impressed by him as a rapper?

Your admiration of him seems to be that his bodies of work are great, but much of the criticism I've seen on here is that his actual skills are overblown.

Average-to-Good rappers make great albums, but that doesn't make them great rappers per se.

I'll give some examples in case I lost you: Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Trick Daddy, 50 Cent, Drake, Kanye

Those are all rappers that aren't the most mind-blowing nikkas, a la Kendrick, but make great albums

Do you have an agenda against Lupe Fiasco, maybe?

no lies were told, end of the day Kendricks name doesn't ring in the streets

The streets don't tell the complete story n!gga. Especially in this day and age of multiple regions and genres and oversaturation. It goes without saying he is dope though and the king of this generation. Enough of the streets and enough of the masses are fukkin with him to give him the crown.

As far as what Lupe is saying, top tier lyricism doesn't always involve going over someone's head. There's always been plenty of rhymers who weren't intricate, technical, nor esoteric who were still regarded as A class spitters.

I'm 35 and been listening to Hip Hop music since I came out the p*ssy. In the streets since a young teen selling crack listening to Hip Hop. Cutting school, hitting parties, fukking hoes listening to Hip Hop music. On walkmans. On Sony discmans. Don't ever try to play yourself and try to pull my Hip Hop card.

I'm a fan of both artists. Technically I'm a Lupe stan to the fullest, as he's my God MC and nobody coming close.

Lupe stating facts. Kendrick isn't a superb lyricist by any means, but he's a great artist. He can curate albums really well, and puts effort into his visuals, appearances and performances that you don't get from a lot of other artists. I'm a huge fan of Kendrick's style and artistry. Everything he does to me is dope. He's constantly going left when his contemporaries go right. Part of the reason I grew to enjoy everything Lupe was doing during the mid to late 2000's.

Nah, he's not an average to good rapper. He's better than that. And how many times do I have to tell you I'm not known to be all up in Kendrick threads? What's this admiration shyt you talking about?

And regarding Lupe? Yea, I think he's trash, nerd rap and the Kendrick hate on here comes mainly from his jealous stans.
