The full rundown is that a poster named STU-Top Dude started this rumor and a bunch of other rumors on the old Nas BBS forums. He had a knack for starting Nas rumors that went viral. He’s the one who started the $2 Million dollar Neptunes beat rumor.


Back when Carmen’s book was to be released independently and it was called “Sex, Drugs, and Hip Hop….And Did I Mention Love?” Stu put up a bunch of “cliffnotes” that were supposedly in the book that turned out to be false. Amongst them was that Carmen had an affair with Pete Rock (which both Pete and Carmen have denied) and that Carmen found Nas in a hotel with loose papers of rhymes everywhere.


The only “Hotel” story in Carmen’s book is her finding out that Nas was laying groupies in a specific hotel under a false name. She called the hotel number and confirmed it.

Yall know I hate on (modern) Lupe but he's 100% right and yes, it was a blueprint for modern albums. An album that had everything - the pop shyt, the underground shyt, the conscious shyt, etc. Life After Death came later and became the more refined blueprint in terms of having better pop, street, ladies, etc tracks but the way people downplay IWW is wild to me. Honestly if Biggie hadn't died in 97 I think a lot of "real hip hop" heads would have hated on Life After Death too.

What’s so crazy is…anybody whose ever had the slightest problem with Nas LOVES Nas and was either hurt by something he said/did or simply got ghosted…

Jay, Cam & Jimmy, 50, Kayslay, Whoo Kidd, Kobe, J Cole, Fat Joe, Lupe, Game, Eminem, NORE, Irv Gotti…all have “Nas ghosted me/hurt my feelings” stories.

Anyone who listens to Lupe can hear that Jay-z is obviously his muse, lol, from voice to delivery to the cadence, etc... Whenever they speak about rap on the podcast with Royce, Lupe (and Royce) always site Jay-z as the greatest ever, for a multitude of reasons.

I think he has a lot of love and respect for Nas and how he influenced him coming up...I don't think he's the biggest Nas stan like that anymore though, at least he doesn't seem like it...but I'm sure he still holds him in super high regard

I think CURRENT Lupe might feel some type of way that Nas won’t return his phone calls lol. Lupe said recently that he was in the studio with Nas and that they had a great conversation and a few weeks later he texted Nas saying “lets do an EP” and he hasn’t heard from him since.

That is one thing I don’t like about the elder gods of rap, you will almost never see them collab with what would make sense….not saying I would want a Nas plus Lupe EP but i would have paid hundrends for Nas and Havoc, Prodigy and Cormega to link a few more times before P’s departure
