Na thats not what I'm saying at all stop it with that NY hate shyt. Those are just 4 tapes/albums that came out recently, I'm more then open to all regions and I like artists from cali, atlanta, all over the place so don't try to put me some sort of category. I'm talking bout y'all who are saying we don't even listen to hiphop then try to judge the lyricism thats out right now.

I dont listen to mainstream rap much these days either, but I hear enough to know I want nothing to do with it. Turn on the radio for 20 mins and u've heard enough

Speaking of boring...Funny how everyone already forgot about J. Cole when he was the darling of the so called lyrical reinassance just 12 months ago...

:krs:

I never really rocked w/dude either...

But what do you suggest people not feeling the 8 rappers on the radio do?

I didn't say nothing bout mainstream though? I'm talking about hip hop in general. Listen yo, all I'm saying is it's wack to make generalizations about hip hop then turn around and say you don't even listen to it. I'm not talking about you or no one on this board, I'm talking about lupe in this interview.

lupe probably hasn't even heard many of those projects(neither have I) including life is good, so yea he has the rightful place to say hiphop is wack which it is. unless you a message board fan you wouldn't even know whom 90% of the underground artist are. hip-hops forefront consist of 2 chainz, future, big sean etc.

Word I mean I hear about most shyt I listen to from my block and shyt, but I feel u. To be honest though, I'd rather listen to the new 2chainz shyt then some boring ass Mos Def and Mf doom like lupe was talking bout thats just me.

No swipes but this is part of the problem

I mean boring is boring is boring, w/e, everything doesn't connect

But on the flip side it seems like everyone who listens to the radio feels the same way... even though tere was a time when people listened to shyt like PE or Nas or Bone Thugs

People dont seem to want to have to think at all about music they listen to. Like, is there anyone on the radio making music you have to listen to more than once to understand? I really doubt it

i just tried to envision Lupe Fiasco listening to "Life Is Good" and realized, that album is kind of negative. it's way more street and Escobar-like than most of Nas's other albums, i wonder how Lupe feels about that. not too much positive/uplifting talk on there.

Word I think your right. At the same time its hard to see Lupe as anything but hypercritical when his last album was that bullshyt...

I think mainstream wise theres a lack of creativity and content outside of a few. (Nas) But I would say lyricism is coming back and non cookie cutter shyt is coming back to the mainstream.

Last year Jay and Ye came out with (nikkas and Paris and Otis) for singles. These are not cookie cutter bullshyt commercial tracks these are bangers.

I fell like artist like Drake don't get enough credit lyrically. He bodied the hip hop tracks on his album and has improved greatly lyrically since SFG. Tracks like (Over My Dead Body, Free Spirit, The Ride, Underground Kingz, HYFR, Lord Knows, Dreams Money Can Buy, Im On One)

Drake is a great artist.. hands down

"Over my dead body" is the shyt

does anybody else think that they're just a lot smarter than everybody else and that's why they don't necessarily get into a lot of these dudes out here that everybody else does? even the dudes i do like, like 50 Cent for example, are f*cking trash, lol. i like him cause he from my block and his sh!t is hard but the n!gga can't really spit. 97% is being conservative to me, i'd say 99% of these rappers suck. how do yall sit there and listen to this sh!t and not think "this is madd stupid, why am i listening to this stupidity?"

I mean, on one hand it was a real disappointment, but on the other hand it moved the units his label wanted and got him that much closer to being out of his deal

Plus again... Friend Of The People. Lasers is a distant memory, FOTP is the disc it was meant to be

didn't charlemange say some shyt about he dont like to think

CTG def acts more on impulse than introspection

He is the black skip bayless, exquisite trolling game .

Lu is apart of that 97% until proven otherwise, I'm just waiting for him to drop something worth listening to it's been 5 years since last time. I can't believe this dude is the same dude from 06-07.
