People hate the Lakers so much that they gotta find flaws in this trade.
LA definitely won this trade, not just for this season and next season but for the foreseeable future and it's not even close.
AD going to Dallas to pair with Kyrie is a good team, no doubt, but their ceiling is lower than what it was with Luka and Kyrie. AD keeps them as a competitive playoff team, but he doesn't make them a championship contender, just a really good playoff-contending team.
Kyrie and AD aren't KD and Kyrie's level of championship contention; there's a reason why Mavs fans are mad because they know AD, aside from improving defensively, is somewhat of a downgrade overall. To say he makes them better than what Luka provided is coping and, in other words, saying Luka was a scrub. Nobody believes that shyt.
Luka, even with his conditioning and defensive flaws, is still a generational talent that you don't just give up on. That's like when people were saying to trade a rising star in Jaylen Brown, who had some flaws, for an older injury-prone Dame or KD, and the Celtics winded up being smart to stay the course with Tatum and Brown, and it's worked out great for them.
