Clearly what they’ve been seeing behind the scenes gave them zero confidence he’ll make it a priority to be available. Be mad at Luka :yeshrug:
Breh you're drinkin the Kool aid

We saw them let Brunson go cuz they didn't wanna pay

Now they letting Luka go right before he could get paid

dude is homies with Pelinka and got finessed, of course they gonna say whatever they can to make you believe it was a good choice. He could've gotten WAY more for the kid

You only got 2 MAYBE 3 years to make it work with AD, and half of those guys could walk before it's over (And you won't attract any good free agents after they saw this move)

Vs.

8-10 years to get Luka to buy in to better health

One of these things gives you a longer window than the other, it's really that simple from a business AND basketball perspective

Doesn't matter how apprehensive they were about his next contract, nothing would've altered his value around the league between now and when he signed it.

Taking this shotgun approach and trading him for a 32yo big man who can't stay healthy instead of properly vetting his market in the offseason is a franchise altering blunder. They've backed themselves into a corner where they HAVE to win a title in the next year or two to even have somewhat of a justification, and that means asking AD & Kyrie to carry burdens neither could manage when they were younger and in their physical peak.

Luka has played above 60 games most of his career and doesn't get bubble guts during playoffs

Nah I call out what I see I don’t do that bias bs lol
Contrary to what you think you're doing, you're guilty of just that.
Being right all the time ain’t that serious. Luka has consistently showed he’s undisciplined, injury prone & in general not serious. He’s been fortunate to be able to push thru based on otherworldly play.
You know this is bullshyt, so why even post it?

He's averaged near 70-games a season since he was drafted, he's played in 50 out of possible 53 playoff games; he's taken them to the WCF (eventually losing to the 2022 champions) and then the Finals two years later, all the while making the All-NBA 1st team for five consecutive years. He was disciplined enough, healthy enough and serious enough to acheive all that, yet you wanna believe in this propoganda that not only is that not worthy for a franchise to keep, but to get rid of for a lesser player who is considerably older, when they could've easily waited until the offseason to address this, where they would've undoubtedly got a better package than they did if they still decided to cut ties with him.

It's hilarious that you're trying to justify how this decision was made.
Looking at other guys Embiid, Zion it was prob tough to sell the ownership on Luka long term. They see him every day so let’s not act like they making shyt up. Lemme guess Nico a coli poster & hate cacs which is why he traded him.
As it's been reiterated all throughout this thread, referencing Embiid and especially Zion is patently ridiculous. He has acheived far greater success in the playoffs and has generated the franchise infinitely more revenue than either of those players.

20 years from now, the Mavs might still not have had a player even remotely on his level.
With that said Lakers future was sure to be doom & gloom so I’m not mad at them doing the trade. Just gotta hope Luka either decides to get his act together or the bad habits don’t catch up to him as quick as Dallas predicted
You're not mad at the Lakers for trading away a #2 option who's on the wrong side of 30 for a generational #1 option in his mid-20s?

AD and JJJ are not on the same level . Going only by what the Dallas was looking for in a trade the only big that made more sense than AD was Embid but his knee situation is fukked so :yeshrug:
You didnt say the same level. You said a defensive scoring big. A DPOY that averages just under 2 points under Davis right now
