It’s not all about who is the better player. Luka is not better than AD overall while in the court imo. AD is so injury prone is what bothers me and the fact that he isn’t a true alpha leader. As a player you can’t tell me he isn’t a huge complimentary piece. He is not an alpha like Luka but he is a HELLUVA player. Dallas will benefit more from this trade especially in the short term if AD is healthy. I am a Bron stan but let’s be honest, they need some hello field defenders around a 40 year old and a defensive turnstile.

AD struggled to make the playoffs when he was his team’s best player Luka carried garbage to a conference finals and made the finals as his teams best player last yesr

AD has never been a good enough scorer to be the #1 option on a title contending team

They could surely got something like the PG in return to Luka or even what the Knicks gave up to get Bridges.

That literally should have been the starting point.
From who? The only team I could see that would’ve swung on that was the Spurs. A package of Castle, Vassell, a few other pieces and some picks. I think Castle is a future All-Star but if you want to win now it wouldn’t make sense.

I can’t see any other franchise gutting their teams.

When did I say it wasn't an ownership call? Clearly trading your franchise player isn't something you just decided to do in an instant

End of the day by only negotiating with one team for a player of his caliber you're still creating the same situation, where said team is bidding against themselves. If the roles were reversed and the Lakers were seeking out an AD trade, you think the correct approach would've been to only discuss with one team and have one offer on the table?
I haven't seen your other posts, just that one, which only mentioned Nico.

Of course they should have called around but the team clearly wanted to keep this as low profile as possible because they knew there would be massive outrage. If Luka would have asked out, it would have been one thing but the team initiated this. The thought alone is irrational so how they went about this could only be irrational.

I believe something had to have happened at a personal level between Luka and ownership. It's the only way I can comprehend this happening and I'm saying that as a Lakers fan. I hope we find out the real story this week.

It wasn't just concerns about his weight or not wanting to pay him $350 million on an extension.

This is definitely an awful trade but we gonna act like the majority of this site hasn't been calling Luka an outta shape fat CAC for years.
:russ:
And so what? He's been 5 time all NBA and went to a finals as a fat ass. If he was doing this as an 11th seed the criticism would be warranted

He is in his prime. And he’s been in his prime at least 2 years. He’s been playing professionally since 15-16 years old. We’ve seen his body breakdown in multiple playoff series. What is supposed to change in the next 10 years?

I probably wouldn’t have made the deal, but I can see why you’d want out of the Luka business if he’s up for $350 million.

Luka has not been the reason why the Mavs have fallen short. The NBA is about generational talents you can’t win without one and don’t trade one at 25 imo.

BUT if you do trade him trading a top 5 player without even entertaining any other offers is insane and a fireable offense regardless of how you feel about AD

I don't think anyone is arguing that Nico should've gotten on the phone and personally called every other GM/POBO in the league

But also you're doing your team a disservice at the same time by not weighing options. Lakers were basically bidding against themselves.

Even if AD was his guy all along, if other teams are applying pressure who knows maybe he could've gotten Knecht or Reaves instead of Christie, maybe the Lakers would've been willing to put more than one pick on the table to ward the other teams off. Maybe another team would've given him a godfather offer, I mean hell who thought the Knicks would give up 5 picks for Bridges or Wolves would trade 4 picks and half their rotation for Gobert?

We'll never know.
Y’all are talking about different things.

Im just saying this shyt ain’t illegal or collusion like some butthurt ass fans are trying to paint it ass.

The Nets would have literally mortgaged up those shytload of picks that they have for Luka and even a team like Utah would have as well. They could have literally dictated the terms of the deal.

We can't just sit out here and pretend like that Lakers deal would have been the best one on the table.

Living in Dallas and not being from Texas and not being a fan of the Mavs nor the Cowboys so entertaining. :skip:

Nico was so tired of Luka being a lazy as fat entitled euro, no defense playing ass, crybaby diva.:mjlol:

But to not discuss this with Kidd is disgusting.

Watch Luka change his whole personality and become hard working to spite these mafukkas :dead:

Luka gone fukk around and hire Tony Allen as a defense advisor and get on a strict diet and training program.:francis:

Now after hearing this Nico shyt. I changed my mind and don't believe this was a LeGM move.

Bron might as well gone to Cleveland and find a way to get Butler there too.

And he got smoked in the Finals because he's a fat ass and an awful defender. I'm not defending this deal. Just pointing out something I found amusing.
