To be honest my mom tried to pull something similar (not on as big a level) Lent me $30k. I bought a property (used my money as well). Paid her back 6 months later and bought another property. Then she says I owe her more because she was unaware I was going to use the property as an income property and buy more. To me that’s irrelevant. We talking like $200k or so that she feels I owe her on the 1st property. Even in this down market if I sold it today I’d make about $500k at least. She hasn’t put a dollar into the property over 10 years of me owning it. Why would she feel she’s owed a percentage of it? Didn’t put a strain on our relationship but it really got me thinking.

Then says I should have partnered with her to buy income properties. She doesn’t get why I wouldn’t do it.
