Ludacris' music has aged terribly and it's high time we acknowledge it

You said that Busta had three undeniable classics. That is why I brought up Doggystyle.

Luda did not fall off just four years into his career. Stop it. That's pretty much like saying Busta fell off with Anarchy.

Breh, Luda could still sell out a show without Pharrell ever showing up. Come on.

Ludacris was never some flash in the pan artist. Ludacris from 2000-2007 two triple platinum albums, two double platinum albums, and an platinum album. He was still going gold 10 years into his career and still had solo hit songs. Hardly a flash in the pan artist.

I don’t know anyone who doesn't think The Coming, When Disaster Strikes and ELE aren't classics. Dr. Dre just doesn't just throw the word "classic" around, and he said Busta's first three were classics too. And that's why he wanted to sign him to Aftermath.

And everyone knows that after Chicken & Beer, Luda was trash. You're talking about sales. I'm talking about the quality of the music. Chicken & Beer was his last dope album. Luda's best sh*t was from 2000-04. That was his run. He sold records after that, of course. But that doesn't mean they were good records, lol. The f*cking Ying Yang Twins went triple platinum and sold more records with one album, than Luda did with two albums combined during those same years.

Does that mean they made better music than him or were better artists? No. So it's never going to be about sales. Your sh*t can fall off and still sell. It's about what's dope and what's classic and not.

This would work if I called him irrelevant.

He was one of the biggest super star rappers at the time..but his music didn't hold up once you step outside of that and/or grow up :manny:

But we're not in here discussing his celebrity, it is his music that's driving the discussion.

There's a lot of people who don't think Busta's albums are classics. At best, it's a matter of taste and opinion. Same as Luda falling off after Chicken N Beer.

The Ying Yang Twins NEVER sold more records than Luda and are the definition of flash in the pan. Ying Yang Twins have two platinum albums. Luda outsold them with one of his lower selling albums.

I never said it was about sales. You said Luda was flash in the pan. Flash in the pan artists don't do Luda numbers over the course of 10 years.

Again, people think Busta fell off as well. I remember Anarchy being panned by Busta fans and Genesis being his comeback and after that his fans didn't like It Ain't Safe No More and questioned the direction of Big Bang.

I don't know why you feel the need to dismiss Luda to big up Busta especially since NOBODY said Luda was better than Busta. All that was said was that they were in the same lane as both were viewed as dope MC's who made fun music.

Your issue is that of a personal one..

If you don't hit clubs anymore, then yeah I can see you talking like that

Ying Yang Twins sold 3 million records for their album in '05. This is album copies sold. Not streams. Luda dropped TWO albums before and after that. And sold a little less for both combined than Yang Yang did with just the one album. The numbers are there. I was at Def Jam at the time. This was literally a conversation we had back then. He was being outsold by trash. Doesn't mean Ying Yang wasn't wack. So sales don’t mean anything.

No. What I said was that Busta is "a certified Hip Hop legend. Not a flash in a pan artist." If someone was around in '91, and saw what dude was doing back then and actually experienced in real time what his impact was for mad years, they would never compare him to someone like Ludacris. There are levels to this. Very few are on Busta's level when it comes to impact and classics. Dude is a serious legend in this.

He definitely had weak albums, they all do, but those weak albums can't tarnish his status as a legend. What I'm saying is, as much as I loved Luda's first few albums, I'd never go as far as to even put him in the same talks as Busta. I liked a lot of Luda's songs, and he was cool. But I never saw him as a Hip Hop legend. When we start comparing legends to people who haven't had the same impact, it's an insult to those who came before and built legacies that can never be touched. The dude in my avatar actually gave Busta his rap name. And Chuck also said, "There is no artist in Hip Hop like Busta. And there never will be. He's one of the chosen few." People have to start paying more respect to the legends.

RIAA has Ying Yang Twins with two platinum albums. They never went beyond platinum. You are misinformed. Whoever said that at Def Jam was a lie because the group never had a triple platinum or even a double platinum album.

You may hold Busta in higher regard, but truthfully speaking, BOTH Luda and Busta are Hip Hop legends. And again, there the bias. You're acknowledging Busta has weak albums, but it doesn't affect Busta, but then you point out Luda's, but his are held against him.

Breh, there are a lot of Hip Hop artists that have had similar if not more impact than Busta. You're delusional at this point.

Ying Yang Twins' U.S.A. album was certified 3X platinum by RIAA. That's not an opinion.

I point out that Luda only had a 4 year run because he did. Busta had a decade run before Luda even came out. And he's still going, 31 years later. Just dropped another critically acclaimed album 2 years ago. Luda doesn't have the classic work that Busta has. So he couldn't afford to drop weak sh*t, and still be compared to Busta. Busta's been at it forever, so his misses can't overshadow his wins. Luda has just as many misses as wins, in much less time. That's the difference.

No delusion here. And no need to get emotional about it either. Relax. I'm pointing out facts. That shouldn't bother you. I like both artists. But I'm not putting them on the same level. That's all there is to it. Either you were there for Busta's run starting in '91 or you weren't. Just say you weren't. It's cool.

Ying Yang Twins DO NOT have a triple platinum album. I looked. They only went platinum. They sound scanned something over 1 million. Nothing close to 3 million units. I will even screen shot the certifications.

Breh, Luda had more than 4 year run. You're basing this on your own opinion and emotion. There is nothing factual to back your argument.

Luda is still going as well. What are you talking about.

No artist can afford to drop weak albums. You're making excuses and moving goal posts. A weak album is a weak album. Nobody is giving out passes for an artist making a weak album.

And please stop with this Busta run from '91-forward. Everyone knows about Busta's run LONS. He was the clear star of the group, but let's not pretend that this was one of the bigger groups of that era. They had some joints. Busta's moment was "Scenario" and it was years before we got an album. He had some great appearances on songs like "Flava In Ya Ear" remix and even randomly popping up on interludes on albums from Mary J. Blige and TLC before we got his album.

Point blank, both Luda and Busta are Hip Hop legends. That isn't debatable.

Word Of Mouf > Back For The First Time > Theater Of The Mind > Chicken & Beer > Release Therapy

Honestly, I'd probably even put Ludaversal in front of it :patrice:
I rank the albums almost the same, as far as being my favorites. “Back for the first time” would be swapped with “word of mouf”, for me.
