Ludacris' music has aged terribly and it's high time we acknowledge it

I can still listen to the entire Chicken&Beer album all the way through (the 3-6 produced cuts:blessed:, Splash Waterfalls, Blow It Out...)

Word of Mouf, Release Therapy and Red Light District are also still good in 2017 for me

Agreed that Back For The 1st Time has aged poorly. Catch Up still bumps

This is where history gets changed.

Ludacris was unique, something different in an era when hip hop started to appear (not sound, that was a bit after) the same. His music was fun, he could rap his ass off and his style was his. I've heard a few Snoop Dogg, DJ Premier and people like such who have been in the game for a long time, they have said they fell in love with hip hop at a time when everyone was different - Ludacris gets nothing but credit for being who he was, and providing an alternative. Kanye gets credit for providing an alternative, as he should, but the impact of his alternative you could argue negatively impacted hip hop to a lot of people today. Ludacris' alternative didn't really affect anyone positively or negatively, you might say that should count against him, not really, you don't always have to be influential, he was just him.

Also, Growing Pains and Hopeless are for me in probably in the top 20 tracks of the 2000s for me.

*Note - I'm not even a big Ludacris fan.

this is on point

It's been 16 (:wow:) long years since Ludacris debuted, and we were all captivated by this animated, over the top newcomer from Champaign, Illinois Atlanta, Georgia, but has his music truly stood the test of time? Let's see:

:trash:

Original poster purports that Ludacris is a cringeworthy gimmick whilst having a pic in his avatar of a great mc that ultimately became more of a gimmick than Ludacris? Just because it isn't mainstream doesn't make it any less gimmick. Post mid 2000's Dumile career has been nothing but hype off his mask and moniker.

I don't get the ludacris hate.. anyone wit half a brain knows he wasn't Nas wit the pen but had a lane that he owned for a while

nikka made some solid southern albums and gave us some classic 2000's hits:yeshrug:

Luda has been in the way most of his career.

I remember a comment on here or :hamster: some years ago (don’t remember who) saying listening to Luda’s music was like eating cookies for dinner :russ:. I couldn’t have said it better myself.
