Student: Mr. Brooks, can I come after school for extra help.

Mr. Brooks: Sure, whats seems to be the problem?

Student: I can't focus. That whore Stacy has only been to class 3x this week.

:russ:

We should keep these ignorant bytches ignorant so their children will be ignorant. Perpetual poverty/lack of education leads to a culture of poverty. Its keeps Negroes clinging to that poverty line. Genius way to maintain the status quo :win: Cuz with a Black population of over 55 percent, Im sure its the non-whites getting pregnant over there in Delhi, Louisiana.:smugfavre:

If they get transferred to another school how would that keep them ignorant? They are still getting an education just not at this particular school

What happens if the other school transfers them? Shunting the problem (repeatedly) elsewhere with no clear final point doesn't really address any part of these issues.

why would the other school accept them and then transfer them?

and why do you equate transferring as something negative , maybe the next school is better equipped to handle pregnant students

But either way there isn't any evidence of any constitutional violations, this seems like a local administrative issue

I don't think anyone is arguing that it's a constitutional violation. It just seems counterproductive since it doesn't address any core issues.

again i dont see how its counterproductive as long as they are transferring to another school and it seems to me that thats a local administrative issue

the whole point of the story is that its unconstitutional, maybe you didint read it

The American Civil Liberties Union points out that Dehli Charter School’s discriminatory policy for pregnant students is “in blatant violation of federal law and the U.S. Constitution.” On Monday, the ACLU of Louisiana and the ACLU Women’s Rights Project sent a letter to the school asking it to suspend its policy, on the grounds that New Delhi Charter School’s unfair treatment of its pregnant students violates the following laws:

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, for excluding students from educational programs based on sex.

The Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution, for treating female students differently than their male peers, as well as stereotyping “suspected” pregnant studies on the basis of their gender.
The Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment that recognizes the right to procreate as well as the right to decide whether to terminate a pregnancy, for targeting students in a way that appears to stigmatize pregnancy.

Yeah, I meant in this thread, since you were responding to the points I made.

I think privatizing the school system is a good thing tho, I think every school should be able to set their own policy

as long as the girls end up in school I dont see what the big deal is, but that's something the school system should deal with on a local level, I don't think the feds or outsiders should tell local educators how to deal with the issue

I get you breh, and I'm a huge free-market capitalist who usually hates government intervention. The problem is this is a charter school using public money and kicking kids out. The law states they cannot discriminate based on pregnancy.

But your points aren't valid either, they seemed to be based on the premise that the girls are not receiving or will not receive an education if they transfer out of this school

nah nah, no one's saying keep these people ignorant, success comes down to personal willpower and chance(let's be honest :yeshrug::smugdraper:)

I know a few chicks who got knocked up and we're transferred to the alternative school, which conveniently located on the same campus as the main h/s, whom later went on to get their GED or Diploma and now in "college" or a nursing assistant program :leon:

The same people or person that is paying for their transportation now, this question just highlights that this is a local issue, it's not a constitutional issue
exactly, they get bused in the same way. A lot of school districts in LA operate this way, come to think of it.....

Wow this is the most ignorant shyt i've seen.
First off the solution to a girl getting pregnant isn't to deny her education. This "solution" is anything but a solution and ultimately will end up leading to more pregnancies.

How anyone is torn on denying a soon to be mother of education is beyond me. If anything we should be FORCING them to STAY in school, not the other way around.

This is that seperate but equal BS that seams semi popular around these parts as of late.

The issue isn't weather a school is equipped to handle a pregnant girl, you don't need to be equipped for this, it's not like they are handicapped or in need of special treatment, they are pregnant. All around the world women work while pregnant this is no different. Bottom line is this PUBLICLY FUNDED school is denying education to students based on their sex, that is illegal. If there are alternative schools then great, but the choice should be the student's and parent's, not the schools.
