Yup, I Know they had to be doing that shyt just prove a point
dapped. Thats what all of this is..they dont really need prisoners working the governors mansion which looks like a plantation estate

Its all about bitterness from confederacy times. They wanna maintain the veneer of slavery even though they lost the war

This is a fact, Louisiana is all about putting black men in prison and getting slave labor.

The government in this state is completely corrupt
They fukk with these men over little things as well.

Black boys skateboarding they following them, tryna lock them up over a hobby.

Simply walking down the street they're stopping them. Riding a bike. I've been with people and the only reason police didn't harass is bc they saw me smh

Does crime happen down here often, yes.
Are all black men innocent, no.

This place is terrible. Economically depressing.

Alotta these guys don't wanna be in the position they're in. They just wanna take care of themselves and families and they have no positive outlets.

the governor now is trying to push some prison/ justice system reform
[more so from a financial necessity than any other reason]
you can imagine the R dominated state officials arent really going for it
even the ones who are going for it
are up against a really strong corrections/ da lobby

NO had to suspend Public defenders other than for capital crimes
because the budget isnt there
a new rule just passed to increase probation fees so they can even pay the POs
big debate about making parole eligible elderly people
etc.

if it werent for New Orleans and my feelings towards my Black
brothers and sisters who are basically trapped there
i would never spend another penny in Louisiana

I live in Baton Rouge...yea there is a lot of bad shyt here.....

but look...cats can avoid a lot of this shyt if they stay out of the system....

cats are out here killing robbing dealing...and getting sent to prison....

once you get convicted you are at their mercy.....

keep your record clean and you dont have to worry about this

They literally just built a jail that holds 5,000 prisoners in the middle of the city.

I was walking pass mini facilities not knowing they were holding people till I seen a bunch of guys come out in orange jumpsuits with boxes. They have so many mini facilities placed around here.

This all this place is about locking people up.

I couldn't raise a family here. I done see good kids just be punished for nothing. It's not even how you raise them it seems.

Right, its no joke coming up here. You fight to stay alive and then you fight to stay afloat.

As a black person here there is always a target on your head, you have to move like it. Simple stuff can get you 5 to 10, and once you in the system its damn near impossible to get out and bounce back.

Like you said is there crime? Yeah
Are all black men innocent? No

But we sure aren't treated equally when it comes to the law or justice.

With that said there are plenty things I love about Louisiana that I know I couldn't find anywhere else in the country. This place has taught and given me a realistic experience on racism, how to deal with it and people and more 1st hand. However this isn't the place for a lot of black people. Even though we have tons here.

The government is just completely corrupt and the public school system is trash.

If those two things could get purged Louisiana would be the GOAT place for blacks.
