I get it. It’s hard to be of the world and for God.

Most want the easy way.

Being a true Christian means you have to live off the beaten path. You’re going to make mistakes, but you acknowledge and try not to do them again :manny:

It’s easier to live how you WANT to live than to live for Christ. As Christians we have to live our lives a bit different than “everyone” else

well as a Jehovah witness my faith is growing by the day...........Jehovah is circling the wagons before armeggeddon as humankind grows more delusional as they see how violent and unstable economically the world is instead of turning to God they are turning away from God and are engulfed in their own badness and foolishness its the flood all over again and jesus warned about what mankind is doing right now.For just like the days of Noah[a] were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. 38 For in those days before the flood, people] were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark. 39 And they knew nothing until the flood came and took them all away.[c] It will be the same at the coming of the Son of Man. matthew 27:37-39 history is repeating itself and as a Jehovah witness i will say this you aint see nothing yet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Further, reject foolish and ignorant debates,+ knowing that they produce fights. 24 For a slave of the Lord does not need to fight, but needs to be gentle* toward all,+ qualified to teach, showing restraint when wronged,+ 25 instructing with mildness those not favorably disposed.+ Perhaps God may give them repentance* leading to an accurate knowledge of truth,+ 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the Devil, seeing that they have been caught alive by him to do his will. 2 timothy 2: 23-26

I'm a Christian but here's the thing.

1. Because of social media, reality TV, or even our own life observations in general, we see that many self proclaimed Christians don't act much differently from the secular world. Many are out drinking, partying, cursing, fighting, gossiping, smoking, being racist/prejudiced, etc. like everybody else. I don't even frown upon these things much minus racism/prejudice (I think stuff like murder and theft is far more important) but it often makes people question what impact religion or faith actually has on people.

2. Non-Profits and charity organizations are outdoing the church when it comes to giving back to the community and helping the poor and needy.

3. We've seen how the (White) Evangelical movement has been used as a weapon by the MAGA movement despite Trump himself blatantly not being Christian or living a Christian lifestyle. "Two Corinthians" Trump exposed many people in the Evangelical movement which left a sour taste on a lot of people's mouths.

4. Many people financially can't keep up with their tithes, offerings, and building funds for the church but all types of members are still shamed for not giving. This is especially why many poor people wound up leaving the church.

5. Science, the Internet, education, anthropology, and historical research has caused many people to question the Bible and become skeptics.

6. Many pastors have been exposed as frauds, swindlers, hardcore sinners, and hypocrites. Obviously, there's many wholesome preachers but enough pastors have gotten exposed that it made many people look at church funny.

I'd say those are the main 6 reasons for its decline. It should be noted, too, that biblically the church rests upon your spirit. Being a light to others in the world is being the church, not just merely being condensed inside a building with others.

People, indeed, are a lot smarter. They’re also more arrogant, more pompous, more condescending, a lot less caring and compassionate.
To play Devil's advocate(*ba dum tss*), was there ever a time period where people as a whole were truly benevolent and holy?

Over the course of history, there's been slavery, colonization, mass murder, dictatorships, oppression, and inequality even going back to Biblical times.

Seems like people have always had sinful nature which is documented in the Bible itself. Even many self-proclaimed Christians were back then were wolves in sheep's clothing who were power hungry egomaniacs.

This is spot on

There has been a recent movement of black folks leaving mainstream religion in exchange for spirituality, especially African spirituality.

Black people are now realizing how colonizers used the “slave bible” to instill fear and meekness into them. Acknowledging the fact that the KKK used “edited scriptures” to justify black genocide.

We can factor that the black church is responsible for creating order, discipline and structure in the black household. We can also factor how the black church breaded artistic talent such as the late Whitney Houston.

YouTube channels like the Real Merkabah has made black folks question the importance and purpose of religion. The more research you do, you’ll notice most of these organized religious practices take pieces from Ancient Kemetic (Egypt) ancient texts.

Well said and stated.

Really wanted to highlight the above two points u made. #2 especially applying to the corrosive nature of the american evagelical church. Charity and care of for those most in need is pretty much absent and attempts by the govt. to help these ppl, (medical care, food, housing) are met with anger as 'socialism'.
