Something else to consider. You mgiht have weak traverse abdominals. They are basically your built in girdle and help keep your stomach flat and core rigid. Best way to work those is with vacuum planks. If your body fat is normal and you have a gut its prob from a weak core, common w/desk jobs.

Anyways heres what a plank looks like... you just hold that position

Keep your shyt tight and suck your tummy in so your abs are flat with your legs. Do it by a mirror. Hold the position for like 1-2 minutes, and when it gets easy do it with weight on your back. Your shyt will tighten up niceeeeeee :birdman:

I need to lose some fat on my body too. Im 5'10'' and 204 lbs. No muscle definiton and i look flabby. Ive always had fat on my stomach and sides and chest. The last time I had a flat stomach I was probably 10 or 11 maybe. Ive always see dudes with flat stomachs and abs and stuff. I want that too. I just got a membership to a gym I havent been to the gym regularly in over a year. If diet is the most important thing about losing fat then that will be hard. I eat a lot of bullshyt. I dont know to much about lifting weights.

Im going to try and go at least 3 days a week. What muscles should I work out on what days? last time I was in the gym, I could bench 145 like 3 times I think. Im not that stromg.

Dead lift really melts away the midsection fat fast while strengthening the core a great deal. This is obviously incorporated with a proper diet. I'm going off personal experience tho. I saw relatively quick results. I use to have a flabby midsection.

Its not really "reps"... these are static holds. You just do them as long as possible.

Plank w/45lb plate for time - YouTube
This is a good tip because with a plate on your back you can clearly feel your abs give out as your lower back loses pressure toward the plate. This way it becomes much easier to really punish your abs the last few seconds :gladbron: whereas otherwise it's hard to tell the difference when your body shifts the tension elsewhere.

Yea... def gotta work up to that point though

I have wifey doing these now... she has to go the other way, do some knee to elbow planks. I will either put a foam roller or a stability platform under her knees though. Theres so many ways to do it

How many times a week do you recommend doing those planking exercises?

Honestly I would do them every other day. Just wake up and bang out 2-3 minutes worth of total tension.
