He was defeated legitimately and his supporters didn't accept the result so what is he talking about? There is no scenario Trump loses an election and his supporters accept it.
this is exactly what dems need to start hammering, now.

the people decided in 2020, he didnt accept it, and wont in 2024 either. put republicans in the corner and force them to address trump losing in '24

Hard to predict what the ramifications will be.

I agree in a sense with the judges who said that without an actual insurrection-connected conviction on his record, it will be hard to justify this extreme of a move. Even if it's justifiable abstractly, you're never going to justify it to his supporters or even a lot of adjacent non-supporters. Even someone like Hitler had an actual conviction for it on his record before he tried to gain power again.

I dunno, if I were a judge maybe I would have done it too. But it would be an agonizing decision, cause there could be ramifications either way.

That maybe what this is going for.

The Supreme Court will definitely say he has to be convicted. To spare themselves getting flack. His name is already going to be on the ballots so that puts the GOP in bind of risking him not being able to be president.

Trump won’t be sentenced before November 2024 but his trial could definitely start by summer of 2024.

I don't know why people are getting happy when it's obvious the US Supreme Court will overrule this and allow Trump on the ballot. The lol's and watching MAGA meltdown is always fun though.

When has the 6-3 majority ruled in favor of Trump on anything election related? Name one please

Are you nikkas stupid or just dumb? The 14th amendment in section 3 clearly states if you PARTICIPATED IN AN INSURRECTION… so why are you talking about having a conviction of an insurrection on his record?

Anyone who lives in the real world should be able to see trump belongs on no ballot. The man is a toxic dump of treasonous behavior and ambitions. He's the most anti American president of our lifetime. This country is truly fukked when half and maybe the majority can't see that.

I need my coffee.

Because in order to be penalized via that charge, it first has to be demonstrated that you're guilty of that charge. And Trump is guilty of that charge, but I'm not sure that was adequately proven in the Colorado Supreme Court proceedings.

Man shut up.. it says it in plain text.. instead of assuming it wasn’t proven in the colarado proceeds go read the fukkin case.. They literally crossed their T’s and dotted their i’s.. case is air fukkin tight

Section 3 of the Civil War-era 14th Amendment says: “No person shall ... hold any office, civil or military, under the United States ... who, having previously taken an oath ... as an officer of the United States, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”

In all seriousness, the Supreme Court is fukked. The current make-up of the court loves themselves some states rights and origin-interpretation and both of those go against Trump here. The Colorado SC cited Gorsuch in making their decision, so he's either going to agree with himself or make himself look like a massive hypocrite. If they rule against the Colorado SC decision, they're basically saying the laws/constitution are meaningless and further cementing themselves as a right wing puppet court. If they uphold the ruling, they face the wrath of the Trump Cult who will call them RINO's, start talking about reform (about damn time to IMO) and ramp up threats against them.

Lose/Lose situation for the Roberts Court.

That doesn't really mean anything compared to this.

I just don't see the Supreme Court allowing this with the general election around the corner. It would let to several other states attempting the same thing.

Its just being realistic.

Looks like it’s going up to the Supreme Court. Wonder how that will shake out

The US Supreme Court is likely to get involved no?

theyll overturn it for the general. clarence thomas needs a new boat

If the Supreme Court dont shoot it down, Wisconsin will follow suit.

Can the U.S. Supreme Court even rule on something like this?

This would technically be a states' rights issue, wouldn't it?

Yep, and like I pointed out, the Roberts Court loves giving states the rights.

It would let to several other states attempting the same thing.

It would also say the Constitution is meaningless given it's a straightforward interpretation of the amendment. Doesn't matter what they do, they are going to feel the heat from one side or the other.

The optimist in me thinks this will screw Lauren Boebert out of her seat.

She only won by like 500 votes in a deep red district.

Without Trump on the ballot, enough people may stay home to flip that seat.

She was toast before this ruling. They're putting enshrining abortion on the ballot, plus her antics aren't exactly helping her cause. On the plus side, her OnlyFans in 2025 is going to be lit.

She not bad looking for a white woman and seems like she aims to please.

If she were a little thicker...I'd clap those conservative cheeks. :ehh:
