Ok, but do you really think that was the original plan or was this Hoegan doing his usual Hoegan politicking bullshyt?

The WWF wasn’t really for convoluted title vacations back then, and you said they were trying to build up DeBiase.

So they’re trying to build up both DeBiase and Savage but neither of them gets a W over Hogan for the belt? Something’s not adding up, brother.

No, it builds everybody in the whole feud... Savage, DiBiase, and keeps Hogan a top star at the same time... it was gonna be someone other than Hogan holding the title and Savage was the only one popularity-wise that could have done it. If it was some Hogan politickin shyt, they'd have tried to put Brutus in that spot or somethin' wild like that. The whole Megapowers vs Megabucks thing was the big feud of the year.

I don't know how they planned it in the beginning, I just know what happened on TV was classic. And Hogan was never MY guy, but he was THE guy in that era :manny:

I grew up an NWA diehard and didn’t really fukk with WWF like that back in the 80’s, so some of this stuff I never really seen before or don’t remember that well.

But goddamn Hoegan was a bytch. He would not let Macho shine without being all up in he videos. You know he was requesting Vince to let him do all this stuff.

He wouldn’t drop the belt to Savage, so they had to have some silly WCW Russo-esque plot involving Andre getting the belt from Hogan because of a crooked ref then trying to sell it to The Million Dollar Man and having it vacated and a tournament to win it.

Wrestlemania-Savage getting worked by DeBiase with interference from Andre. He whispers something in Elizabeth’s ear. Elizabeth goes to the back and gets you know who. Hoegan runs out and hits DeBiase in his back with a chair while he has the million dollar dream locked on Savage. Savage hits the elbow and gets the W for the title. But he couldn’t do it without illegal help from Hoegan, so it minimizes the accomplishment for a babyface. Then in typical Hoegan fashion, he steals his shine by celebrating in the ring with Savage and handing him the belt like he’s giving him permission to be champ.

So Hogan let’s Macho be the champ while he films and promotes No Holds Barred. But he has to win the Royal Rumble for no reason at all, and eliminate Savage in he process.

Then at Wrestlemania Hogan is the challenger, but the champ, Savage comes out to the ring first. :snoop:

Hoegan kicks out of the off the top rope elbow, which no one does. It wasn’t even one of those barely lift your shoulder kickouts, or a long wait because the ref was out. He didn’t sell it at all. Then leg drop 1,2,3 clean win.

Hoegan was scared Macho might eclipse him popularity.

Nope....

we don’t need to do that...... back then and especially at this point we have enough to fairly reference and say “silly WWF/E plot” also Russo was there too and FIRST.

Other than that..... pretty good post:ehh:

Savage NEVER beat Hogan clean.....EVER.

Think about that shyt for a second, all of the matches they had and not once did Randy ever get a clean win. (he won a couple by DQ and countout)

It's one the great travesties in the history of the business, and its not only the fact that Savage never got a clean win but also how many of Randy's title reigns were ended by Hogan? He just couldn't help himself, the way he seemed to go out of his fukking way just to bury Savage was completely ridiculous and petty, especially when they were in WCW, IMO.

In the WWF, I thought most of the stuff was fine. Hogan was the biggest draw in the business and deserved to be on top I have no problem with that, he was a fukking cash machine back then.

WMIV storyline was fine. Vince wanted the belt on a babyface so Savage was chosen. The story of the match with Dibiase was fine, Andre kept interfering so Mach has Liz go get Hogan to even up the sides and prevent futher interference from Andre, makes perfect sense.

The Mega Powers storyline is one of the GOATs in wrestling history, I only have minor gripes with its execution. First, I would've done the split differently and made sure it was Savage who come off as the heel and acting all ridiculous. They way they did it made Hogan look heelish IMO and that's definitely not what they were intending. Also I would've had Savage retain the title at WM5 via some sort of fukkery, let Hogan chase through the summer then win it at Summerslam. But those are small tweaks, that storyline is legendary.

Hogan always buried Savage's finish which I hated. You shouldn't bury someone finish like that, especially a top guy like Randy Savage, it was so bad that Savage actually played off of it by giving Hogan a flying elbow to wake him up.......and it worked, Hogan popped up immediately no selling the whole thing, SMH.

The.
Worst.

How many people beat Hogan clean? As a kid in the WWF I think only Warrior and maybe Undertaker beat Hogan clean.

As much as Hogan was the face of wrestling, he was a piece of shyt who rarely put anyone over.

SHIIIIIIIIIITTTTTT.... nobody ever beat hogan cleanly.. i think the only person was Ultimate Warrior..

HOEgun held back Macho, Bret, Perfect, Dibiase .... even the warrior
I also noticed that Hoegan always had to win the Royal Rumble when he wasn’t champ back then. He won it when Macho was champ and won it again when Warrior was champ. :heh:

A lot of this Hoeganegomania embedded in the plots is comical.

At the 90 Survivor Series, it comes down to a 5 vs. 3 match. The 3 are Hoegan, Warrior and...Tito Santana. Tito gets eliminated almost immediately. Hoegan and Warrior destroy Power and Glory, Rick Martel, Ted DeBiase and Warlord with ease. Hoegan holds the rope for UW to walk out of the ring. UW refuses to go and insists that he hold the rope Hoegan to go first.

The 91 RR (which was by far the worst RR to date at that point) came down to...

Hoegan
Earthquake
Brian Knobbs

Hoegan is the literal definition of dikk riding fakkit who love the attention
Case in point, when he lost the belt to Undertaker (and won it back in a week), he got tombstoned on the chair Flair put in the ring and pinned, this attention whoring fakkit laid on the mat for 10 minutes pretending to be unconscious, eating up valuable time at a PPV just to prove he couldn’t get pinned even due to cheating without being out cold and injured.

And earlier in the match he completely no-sold a clean tombstone. He literally got right back up and stared down Taker after a tombstone.

Big John Studd won that Rumble. Hogan got eliminated by Bossman and Akeem.

The one he shouldn't have won was the '90 Rumble... he was already champ, I'd have either had Warrior win it or have someone else win it after he and Warrior eliminate each other or some fukkery like that.

The '91 win made sense cause he was headed to the Mania main event with Slaughter...

The '92 Flair win was great, but LMAO at how they switched the commentary after the PPV to make Sid out to be a low down snake for dumpin' Hulk out :pachaha:

Hogan couldn't really sell, could he?

In his match with Warrior, he missed the legdrop, got hit with the splash, and then kicked out at three. As soon as the ref hit three, that's when Hogan put the shoulders up and got up like he wasn't affected by anything, or he botched the finish.

Makes it look like Warrior got lucky because of course, Hogan had to make it seem like him losing clean was a fluke. :scust:

Man that Wrestlemania 4 finish made Savage look like a paper champion.

The proper way to handle it would’ve been to have Hogan come out and take out Andre. Instead he hit MDM in the back with a chair while he had his finisher on Macho and the ref wasn’t looking. Then he hogged the spotlight in what should’ve been Macho’s moment and literally handed him the belt. Made Savage’s victory weak... especially for a 1st time champion.

reminds me of when triple K did the same thing for Kevin Owens :mjlol:
