Am I going to be the first to point out that she's mixed, not white?
Also, since she went on to win Miss Universe, it's not like they picked some unqualified candidate or something. She proved she was literally the best in the entire world at......whatever that is they do.
What do past contestants look like post apartheid?
If they're majority African, I don't see a real issue. Maybe the next 5 will be black

South Africa is roughly 80% Black, 10% Mixed, 10% White. So it looks like mixed-race / white winners are definitely overrepresented but not dramatically so. Which makes sense considering white and mixed contestants likely have far more resources for competing in beauty pageants than 90% of the Black population does.
