His name alone should tellya something. Im disgusted that someone with "murda" in his name is being pushed so hard to the youth. Its so blatant.
I'm actually glad this leaked. THIS is what the average white adult thinks of hip hop.

We're so insulated by our culture that it's hard to see the forest for the trees. These white execs promote ignorant ass rap music and (mostly minority) consumers eat it up, leading to a perpetual cycle of poverty and destructiveness. It's like, "Just give them something to sing and dance to and they'll be distracted from the fact that the system we've put in place is designed to keep them down. Play that shyt on the radio 100 times and they won't care that we've made it impossible for them to get out the hood, they can emulate their favorite rap star's dance moves on the curb and they're happy for now."

So while you see Bobby Shmurda, they see another black dancing and promoting ignorance that is going to make them money. And not even them, but the average white person is thinking the same about anyone dressing or dancing like that, or even just playing it in their car as they drive by.

Hip hop is an embarrassment right now. The lack of true respect for it as an artform by the masses is nonexistant. With good cause, though. I can't even defend the shyt anymore, you turn on the radio and the music is so damn ignorant to the point where I distance myself from it whenever I can.

People gotta wake up, man.

Cringeworthy forreal. Yeah, you in the hood trying to get out and you hungry trying to feed your family but to shuck and jive while they're staring at you like something beneath them but only present for some monetary gain is :snoop:

I don't even really blame him, as much. He's a young naive dude doing what he thinks it's going to take to get him out the hood.

The disgust on my end is watching a dude basically dance around and recite ignorance ass lyrics about committing violence against other people of color, while trying to impress and earn the approval of a bunch of white people (and LA Reid), as a result of a certain corporate structure and environment that they have created. I dunno man, the visual of that is just disturbing.

But just goes to show how the corporations have taken a culture that started on the streets and hijacked it for profit and monetization. This whole charade is a result of the corporations systematically feeding us bullshyt ignorance and tricking us into thinking it's what we objectively enjoy. Sad part is, kids go around reciting these dumb ass lyrics all day and acts of violence and trapping are "cool" to them and it's something they aspire to emulate. Hip hop is the single most destructive force for impoverished minorities right now because it not only numbs them to the reality of their situation (the fact that the cards are stacked against them) and acts as a blindfold to what's really going on, but it actually has a whole generation of people WANTING to be the next Bobby Shmurda, when he's just another pawn used to perpetuate this cycle of ignorance. The hood's idolization of pop culture and hip hop is so dumb. These corporations gladly stepped in and obliged by essentially saying "well if you're gonna look up to these rappers and their music as heroes, let us feed you the most ignorant shyt possible from behind the scenes and that way they do the dirty work for us and keep you at bay in your little project tenement while you shmurda dance for some free government cheese and milk"

Good post breh.

The nature of capitalism is such that every possible aspect of human life -- including culture -- will be exploited for profit. The corporations started hijacking Hip-Hop very early on and it has only accelerated and consolidated.

If we want different music, we need to reimagine the structure of society. Because if every major media company involved in Hip-Hop disappeared tomorrow, they'd be replaced by others, and the same things would end up being promoted.

my bad..i dont really pay attention to label owners. ive heard his name but never have seen what he looks like

i watched that kubrick documentary it was :shaq2:

Probably, the paralels between this and an actual minstrel show are hard to ignore. Especially when you consider whos really running Hiphop:ld:

fixed

I'll give him a pass, he's a teenager of Haitian descent. He probably doesn't know the history, depended upon how long his people have been in America. He probably thought it was the unconventional thing to do i.e. bringing the streets to the board room. The person you should be mad at is Sha Money XL for not grooming that young man and letting him know how to conduct himself.

This just shows you, that there is no more grooming of artist, just capitalize and strike while the iron is hot, and then release. I hope he has more than a dance to work with.

yea hes a kid, he might not be fully aware of anything. smh @ these vultures black and white alike. smh @ sha money.
**** that was cringeworthy...

snippet of that song sounded decent though

:snoop:

Define "weight" breh", because no nikka movin' weight finna dance on a table in front of a room full of white chicks like he's auditioning to be a male stripper. He strikes no fear in their hearts, so his lyrics are a joke. Could you imagine Ruff Ryders doin' some sh*t like that? Just their meer presence alone would have most of those CACs like :whoa: "some sh*t might go down, time to bounce". Bobby Schmurda embodies mainstream 2014 rap, which is pretty much a joke/parody/shell of its former self. I mean come on, today's hottest new acts are:

Young Thug
Childish Gambino
Bobby Schmurda
Migos

Be real with yourself, forget the 90s, could these rappers even exist 10 YEARS AGO with the likes of Rocafella, Ruff Ryders, Dipset, Kanye West, etc? I fux with Migos because at least the tone in their music is masculine/heterosexual, but let's not act like 2014 rap scene isn't a joke :to:

Its not that theyre white, u see white hip hop shows all the time

Its the fact that everyone in the room was clearly uncomfortable and there was no chemistry whatsoever

Its the fact that dude has zero self awareness or knowledge of self, to look at the situation and say 'hey, how mite this look... is this good for my brand'

Etc

Its fukking weird breh. Back in the days kids his age in BK had to be street smart to survive. This nikka, Chief Keef, and a lot of the brehs of this generation aren't- they don't have to be. So they wind up being stupid as fukk instead

Good view...

Refreshing to see a good point without using c00n this and c00n that..

I'm embarrassed because of how fake it all is.

Bobby is selling an image that white execs think will be profitable while pushing lyrics that advocate the worse behavior within our own communities.

And to think, that NONE of them like the music.

None of them.

In fact, I'm sure all of them go home and tell their kids NOT to act that way.

I feel sick for even supporting that silly dance to the degree I did.
On point
