Lonzo Ball will undergo a third surgery on his left knee that is expected to cost him most, if not all, of the 2023-24 season

At least he got that second bag, but man him not being available ruins what the Bulls were trying to do with running two ball dominate guys like Derozan and Lavine. Bulls are going to have to make some tough choices.

It's still crazy how much they've put on the backs of AC and Lonzo in the construction of this roster. The actual "stars" feel like they've just been backdrops in terms of importance sometimes

What tough choices? Apply for the exemption and get that contract off the cap asap lol that's the only option

That and trading Lavine and everyone else and bottoming out. If they do it now and draft well they'll be in position to take over their division right as Giannis is declining. Trying to "build around" Lavine is a colossal mistake you know what ya got at this point and it ain't much

Wait what exemption? Are you talking about the amnesty? Was that in the CBA.

Medical retirement. If they can get his contract off the cap (they'll still owe him), if they can prove that his injury is career. Where they fukked up at though is that they left door open for him to return next season previous, which might complicate them getting that exemption or even getting a hardship during the season.

If he ever comes back though during the duration of that deal, then the contract comes back on the cap.
