I also weigh how guys look when judging how great of a player they will be. All the greats regardless of the sport have the same look in their eyes. You can usually see their competitive fire and confidence.

In addition to how ordinary he looks on tape, Markelle Fultz also lacks the look of a great NBA player.

Just look at his eyes. nikka has an empty vacant look to him. Like he's completely disinterested in whatever is going on. With the greats, you can typically see the competitive fire and supreme confidence in the eyes.

Compare what you see in Fultz's eyes to what you see in Lonzo. This dude just looks like a future SUPERSTAR. You can see the supreme confidence and competitive fire in his eyes.

I thought this was a pretty solid analysis for why ball should be chosen over fultz.

Listen to the Data: Draft Lonzo Ball Number One - TSJSports.com | Breaking Sports News and Analysis | @TSJ_Sports

"I’ve compiled data from Synergy Sports Technology on every NBA starting point guard about the types of actions point guards do most. From amassing that information, I was able to determine how frequently an average NBA point guard does each key action: ...

Ball is a much more well-rounded player. Fultz is elite scoring from the pick and roll, but ball is elite at almost everything. Both players are good, but Ball’s numbers are fantastic.

In Fultz’s favor is that he’s more effective than Lonzo in the action point guards do about 58% of their possessions, operate out of the pick and roll. However, Ball is superior in every other category."

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
Kyrie and Wall both came in epically weak drafts with almost no other competition making them the default first overall pick. Just look at who the following picks were those years. In 2010, Evan Turner was the #2 pick, Derrick Favors was #3, and Wesley Johnson was #4. And in 2011, Derrick Williams was #2, Enes Kanter was #3, and Tristan Thompson was #4. Lonzo Ball is a way better prospect than any of those dudes. If Fultz had the competition Kyrie and Wall had those years, I would be behind him being the #1 overall pick as well.

Plus I would consider Wall close to D-Rose and Russ in terms of freakish athleticism. I was high on him before his draft and he's only now living up to expectations. And although Kyrie has had a decent career so far, he's honestly not the type that could lead a team anywhere by himself. He's basically a undersized SG without great athleticism playing PG. He's got a sublime handle and elite one on one scoring skills. Those skills paired with LeBron James have allowed him the perfect role as elite closer on a championship team. However, his poor defense and lack of elite play-making skills make him a sub-par candidate to be the first option on a championship team. And that is usually the standard I use when trying to determine whether a player is worthy of going #1 overall in a draft.

And on that youtube vid, there is a reason they started out with the slo-mo of that dunk. Cause in full speed shyt was unimpressive. I'll give him kudos for jumping from near the free throw line. But then again Brent Barry did the same shyt when he won a dunk contest and he never was a great athlete in the NBA.

Markelle Fultz is a below average athlete. He's not explosive. Either off the dribble or in the paint attacking the rim. Like I said earlier, he's a CJ McCollum/Dame Lillard level NBA player (at best). He's also got full-on bust potential cause he don't look like a guy who loves the game. And as I said he doesn't have a high ceiling. So even if he's better than a bunch of guys right now, he won't be better than them in 3-4 years like Tyreke Evans.

:dead: @ Fultz being below average as an athlete, he dunked from the free throw line while dribbling and you come back talking about 6'7" Brent Barry who didn't have much of handle. Again, there are very few guys that can do that dunk at 6'4" and he did it while dribbling up to the line, you pair that kind of athleticism with shot creating abilities & a jumper, you have a serious player.

He's more explosive than McCollum, and he's bigger than Lillard. If the ceiling for a player is explosive Cj McCollum....that player should go 1. I like Lonzo, but he doesn't have much experience running PnR and he can't shoot going to his right, which is a huge problem. And despite being 2 inches shorter Fultz's wingspan is 3" longer than Ball.

This is a trash analysis because the raw numbers can be skewed any way you want, but they don't take into account style of play or system and how that translates to the NBA. Dude in the comments on that page hit the nail on the head that Lonzo is equivalent to a spread offense QB. That is a great analogy.

What's his opinion on De'Aaron Fox? ...Who absolutely ate his food while Ball played laxidasical and nonchalant for almost the entire game...and will be drafted lower than Ball.

I like Lonzo's size (n/h) and his passing ability is obvious. I dind't like that he rarely looked to score, was a little too pass first while he drove to the basket (I thought he passed up easier scoring opportunities just to kick the ball out), and my biggest concern would be how nonchalant he seemed to be during the entire game against UK.

I'll be the first to admit I've only seen the kid play a few times, but I was far from blown away and the only games I saw were big prime time/marquee matchups. Best of luck to the young man tho.

People keep trying to turn basketball into baseball. You cannot use statistics alone, regardless of how many, to judge players. It will never tell the entire story.

depends on the team and what they want...if you want someone to go get it on their own, you go with fultz...if you want someone to help get the other players involved, you go with ball.....ball is a pass first pg; where as fultz, fox, etc. are score first pgs....
