Mixed feelings about this, I don't know the entire story or how much of it is true, just the general information. First, it comes off a little too much as Oscar bait in the beginning. I doubt it will garner much attention during award season but the little things like the opening training montage or the score or the slow motion deaths make it too obvious what the film was trying to be. Leave that out. The online chat between that one dude and his girl was ugh.

Once the team begins the op it really picks up though. They do a great job of showing how dire the situation is... the action never felt unrealistic to me. It was graphic and pretty terrifying. This isn't a movie where the bad guys are terrible at shooting. The bullets are real. The danger is legit. The team also takes a tumble down this hill that was just :scusthov: ... painful..

The last half hour is not as good...Wahlberg's acting in the village left a lot to be desired.

Overall it's a solid movie and worth the watch. The end credits got me.. the real pictures/video of those who lost their lives in combat :to:

Thought this part could have been cut :ld: But it's understood, how the movie attempts to depict Navy Seals in a nuclear family light.

The action was beyond gruesome, definitely believeable. War isn't pretty but I was thrilled at the positive light in which the movie showcased the villager whom essentially saved his life. If shows that not all people from that region are hell bent on killing Americans...

And the ending mos definitely had me on the verge of some deep internal reflection. Felt sorry for all the young guys who lost their lives to war. Everyone was under 40, which is still young.

That was cool and a nice story but I just felt Wahlberg's acting nearly ruined it. When he was all like "I'll kill you! I'll kill you!" it was...not good... but the middle portion of the film with him and his team with their backs against the wall was very well done and made this worth the watch.

Nah I would have understood if they shot him, they knew he was going to run off and alert the Taliban too but they are taught to rise above the "savages"... It's a very slippery slope. I mean, on one hand you have your own moral code from back home and what you are also being taught by your superiors but on the other hand it's still war... kill or be killed. They did a good job showcasing those difficult choices. If they kill the kids they are plastered on the news and maybe face trial among other things. If they let them go... well, you saw what happened.

I dont see why they didnt just detain the goat herders and take em with them until they reached their rally point And got in communication with the base. Then just release them when they got picked up

The fukk? They were 0-16 shooting RPG's :dead:

Actually, they weren't. They shot one right into the chopper. RPGs aren't the easiest thing in the world to be accurate with especially when you are running towards your target. What I meant was the four of them got shot up pretty much right away and kept catching bullets left and right. It was much more realistic than a standard action film. It wasn't perfect but it was well done. :manny:
