That does nothing hurt players

fukk the players, i just wanna win.:yeshrug:
But moot point itll never happen as the players union is the strongest in all sports:birdman:
But only the top players would be affected with my plan. Up the min contracts and make owners spend a certain amount for min payroll. And if they fall below fine em,make em loose picks, possible strip the franchise from em.
Then we can finally get that kc vs pit ws we all dreamed of:youngsabo:

outta here with that salary cap.People act like the Yankees win a WS every year.Even with a salary cap no free agents would go to a Kansas Cty or Houston. Face it nobody wants to go to a rebuilding small market team.If you got good pitching you are always a contender, year in and year out.

it will teams keep their own for starters. Plus they wouldnt be rebuilding every year on a more level playing field. How the fukk can you keep your pitching if your a small market in this system. You think the tribe enjoyed losing two cy young winners in less than two years? fukk you mean players wont go to small markets. The Packers play in green fukkIN bay and players go there. Difference is football got a cap.

there farm isn't all that either

It's improved tremendously since Luhnow took over. A couple of years ago our farm system was rated last, now most people rank us in the top 10.

Overview: Since the 2010 the draft, the Astros have done the best job of any organization to rebuild their system—at least seven of their top-10 overall prospects may reach the major leagues, and several may even be stars. Whether it be via the draft or trade, the Astros continue to do a tremendous job adding high-upside prospects of a similar mold to their already flourishing system.

"I think the Astros have made some serious strides in rebuilding a farm system that was pretty barren not that long ago. A good amount of it has been via the Draft – and the Astros should be commended for not loading up on safer, conservative college types to make things look better faster. Some of their selections may take a while, but you’re already seeing improvement from guys like Foltynewicz and DeShields. And, of course, some of the talent came from trades. Not everyone from those deals has performed this year, but it added top-end talent AND depth. You never want to have to trade good big league players, but let’s face it, the Astros weren’t winning titles with those big leaguers, so it was time to kind of blow things up. And I think they’re very much headed in the right direction."

In the not-too-distant future, the Houston Astros could have one of the best infields in Major League Baseball.

Some of Houston’s top infield prospects are among the most talented in the minor leagues.

I'm reading comments like the Astros are the Royals or Pirates...some people need to get a clue...Houston is not a small market...they were just run into the ground by terrible management

just a few years ago the Stros had a massive, bloated payroll and were still not very good

terrible, shoddy management took this team down a path in which the only way to recover was to blow it up and rebuild from the ground up

baseball full system rebuilds take TIME...pour money back into farm systems and scouting...get rid of overpriced players...because if the team isn't going to be good anyways there's no reason to overpay for a few guys

this is the first full year of the rebuild...the Stros still have another 4-5 years before the fruits of the labor start really showing and there's no guarantee it works either...it's just one way to rebuild

but stop acting like "free agents won't go to small markets like Houston"...LMAO!!!!

small market?...Houston?...hahahaha...must've forgot when Pettitte and Clemens both left for Houston and helped them get to a World Series...your memories really don't go back to 2005...what are you guys...12 years old?

Well, they had the worst record in the league before the firesale and went 56-106 last year. They need a complete overhaul from top-to-bottom.

To be fair Mills was a horrible manager for this team. Instead of letting guys go out there and learn he was managing like he was in a playoff race. There's no reason there should be a different lineup out there every night. Guys need a chance to play everyday and grow, and Mills was stunting their development with his managing style. It was time for him to go.

is the gm leaving?

:heh:
Well Ed Wade left last year....so, no, but at least they've got a new guy in there. Wade did nothing to help the minor leagues besides not trading Altuve, its a rebuilding process in the major AND minor leagues for them.

Welcome to the American League, Houston fam :pachaha:

Yep, almost half the city are Cowboys fans because they fell in love with the team during their championship run. Its been almost 20 years since they won!!!!! I hate going places, listening to the radio and hearing native Houstonians talking about the Cowboys:snoop:

If the Rangers win the world series the same thing will happen. People have no loyalty to their city, its disgraceful.

Houston fans are also not as demanding as fans from other cities. Owners don't feel as much pressure to put together a competitive squad.
