Mongo as a CHARACTER was a better Horsemen than half the guys who have been Horsemen. As a CHARACTER, not as far as his match quality. The Horsemen are meant to be arrogant, elite athletes who spend a lot of money and draw attention to themselves. The guys at a southern country club who draw a lot of attention to themselves and rub people the wrong way. Mongo fit with that and I could imagine him partying with prime Flair a lot more than somebody like Benoit or Malenko or an angry hillbilly like Ole Anderson.


That elite athlete part is why he was there Mongo wasn't a bench warmer on that 85 Bears team. Him being with the Horsemen legitimized them more than any other guy's not named Barry Whindam or Tully Blanchard.
