So does Banks even really do the punchline style anymore? I know he has metaphors and stuff, but the Jadakiss, Fabolous, insert punchline rapper here style seems to be entirely gone, right?

Musically it was a good decision. I like punchlines as much as anyone but I think this makes more better songs. I still loved HFM though.

He explains why he stopped doing the Punchline Style in this interview.

Unless my ears are off, I think HH2 is shorter than FNO, which is cool. I agree that the sound does start to get the same.

Banks has never really worked with well known producers though. It's frustrating but I respect how it started. Back in the G-Unit days Sha Money XL wouldn't put labels on the beat cds, so they would pick the beats without knowing who produced them. Cool idea but it got old.

I wonder if Banks and them just decided that having name producers wasn't important? Because 50 NEVER solicited any known producers besides Dre or Em until Curtis and then he got that Timbo joint and Havoc and Jake One were some guys that had G-Unit production deals, so they got used also.

Just seems like having high caliber producers was never a G-Unit trademark. If you look at the liner notes of all their group and solo projects from 03-07 it's who's who of :dahell:

There was one point in the producing game where alot of good unknown producers first big name was through G Unit. They never cared much for big names, gift & curse I guess

Yeah idk the beats sound fine to me esp once I got a chance to bump em in legit headphones.

Banks pen game is absurd on this the flows are ridic complicated and he's still dropping jewels and talking about real shyt. Crazy shyt is I know a year from now I can bump these songs and will still have moments where I just pick up what Banks is saying and be like holy shyt cuz at first I'm so focussed on the flow I don't realize that it's not just rappity rap it's real shyt all the way through.

Listen to it in full on my way to work. shyt is fire. It's quite evident he's working on his writing.

shyt I been listening to so much trap shyt I had the reprogram my ears fie hardcore beats:laff:
That was my biggest take away from this tape. Im so sick of the trap sound. Its so played out and over used. Hearing banks spit over these beats was :lawd:

Willacoochee, Ga
:heh:

I had the same reaction

Yeah his beats impressed me on this. Seems like I never hear any beats by Doe Pesci or Tha Jerm besides Banks releases, but I like most of what I've heard from those 2. This is the first beat I heard from him that really caught my ear. These are probably my favorites from him and Banks. Keep Your Cool and Pain in Variety are probably my favorite 2. Gotta digest these HH2 ones a bit more to say for sure.

dog after FNO came out i listened to that Pain In Variety like 500 times :wow:
