Nobody hates Pac as a human being, or even calling him soft, but he portrayed something that he really was not.
Someone that was angry? a dude who was packing heat...on his way to get extorted and shot himself instead of getting robbed? a dude who said fukk the bullshyt and shot at white people who ended up being police? the same dude who walked around NYC drunk freestyling and threatening bootleggers to take his shyt down before he smashes their shop? the same dude who fought the hughs brothers for being c00ns? the same dude who called snoop out for being a wishy washy bytch after everyone supported his murder case? the same dude who was homeless and watched his mom smoke crack in NYC, Baltimore and Oakland? The same dude who took gun charges for junior mafia? the same dude who was set up for rape and then did time for it? the same dude who wasnt being paid in full by death row and trying to get out of his contract? the same dude who the media painted as a villain? Same dude pulling the plug on Qtip and saying fukk all white people in the same performance... based off the fact Qtip was trying to cockblock pac from fukking Janet? The same dude who pressed Nas as a man (lore or not) and said look ... you are a dope rapper but I took some shots at you on my shyt... you gotta deal with it or deal with me right now... in Nas hood, and it was all love? The same dude who was only 25 and lived 3 lives in 1? The same dude giving pro black speeches at 22 in front of the NOI and Black Panthers? The same dude who made his first 2 albums extremely pro black and political? The same dude who at 17 was recording songs called "Panther Power?"

How does a dude who does all this before 25 become something he isnt? thats absolutely fukking ludicrous

Its like saying Mike Tyson is a rape victim, not a fighter... he's not a fighter at heart because he cries before matches. He's not a real fighter just a man who has demons... that sounds absolutely insane and bytchlike to say. Nobody else has this reverse stigma attached to them. 90% of artists on earth are actually phony and live meaningless uneventful lives, but we judge a 25 year old who did all that shyt? You can name basically any rapper and I can tell you exactly why whatever bullshyt standard people use to change the narrative will work 4x as good on them. Not gonna name name's cause I'm not biased at all, but man ... I dunno how you can say nikkas doing real shyt arent real.

For a good temp check, id like to see how many people from where say this. Cause if you go to LA ... you're gonna have to check in or at least align with some shyt... especially if your boss already has them on payroll. So I dont see how the LA gang shyt would be an out for people to use as an example. Deathrow had crips on it from a certain set ... but Suge rolled with Bloods. You're gonna have to roll with one or the other as security detail or to get shady shyt done. I wouldnt say after all that shyt I typed, that he "changed" into a different person for living in LA and signing to Suge. His music had the same content and he was actually MORE calm over there. He never shot no police or caught no gun charges out there. Plus here's my final point... with power comes great responsibility ... if you know you're one of the best... and you finally achieve that (barring all the other getting shot, going to jail, being framed things) Anyone is gonna act like kingpin shyt .... PERFECT example is how LL's whole career unfolded and how he still acts like the king of shyt (named himself the GOAT) Ever since he blew up blew up... I wouldnt say LL cool J changed as a man because of fame... I would say he became the man he thought he was. This can be said for anyone... listen to reasonable doubt... that was the character Jay always was and became... not because he changed. But he worked and got famous, then he could be his wildest dream. That wouldnt mean Jay-z changed, he just became more of what he always wanted to be. Pac's story is so laid out in front of everyone and people still wanna throw loopholes and catches in it... its not that puzzling. He was son of Panther descendants, a good looking dude who grew into superstardom and more p*ssy.... his life was complete trash and fighting with Feds following and people extorting... and he fought until he was surrounded. :yeshrug: I dont see how fighting from the jump and fighting till your death makes you "a changed man" shyt dont add up or make sense at all. If pac died during the first shooting it would be the same story and scenario minus a few chapters. You wouldnt be able to say "oh that changed ass nikka" :russ: I couldnt imagine walking around with a 45 ... shooting at white people... shooting up a kingpins dudes, in a studio and people telling me "nah but he aint really like that though... he's just playing" imagine that

I’m being tugged in 2 directions right now :hula:

@ the heart of it...even back then I knew that music was “poison”

but @ the same time I can’t front on how big an impact that music ultimately had on me as a hip hop fan

I can’t escape my hypocrisy on this one :francis:

Its one of those things that hits you like a Mack truck when you get older. The realization that majority of the youth in the 90s have been duped by the record companies, and now their children are paying the heavy price of generational mental slavery. Thats us talking on the outside....I couldn't imagine what Ice Cube was thinking when he know dude personally. Same thing for Tupac. That was when "Malcolm X" was in movie theaters at that time when that song was on airwaves.

You'll get through this. At least you see what it really meant and the long term consequences of nodding your head to songs that high-key demeaned your race ans intelligence.

That is a good response, but Death Row changed him for the worse. His image at Death Row harmed a lot of young black men, into feeling pressured to be a fake thug and acting ignorant just for acceptance. No one is slandering his true character, the Black Panther one. Its the other one that the record companies did that harmed an entire generation. The impact of the negativity of his thug image, is still being felt today. It wasn't his fault, it's just that the damage has been done. Now we got fake thugs everywhere. c00ns. Sellouts. And the majority of the modern problems, started in that era.

oh no it’s nothing to get thru...as I said it’s a hypocrisy that I’ve always been aware of...and I wouldn’t go so far as to lay blame @ my own feet for enjoying the music...any impact it had on me did not grow beyond music appreciation...it’s not the best analogy but on a personal level it’s like consuming alcohol occasionally even tho I know it’s ultimately not good for me but I’m not gonna blame myself for all the lives that alcohol has destroyed directly/indirectly just bcuz I drink it if I’m reading the last part of your post correctly...not sure if you’re speaking personally or collectively

LL is one of the goat's, he can say what he wants and it's true Pac sold more when he had the gangsta image. LL dissed Tyson calling him ear biter, 20 years later Tyson can still knock a nikka out in few seconds :mjlol:

dropping the “hardest cuts” and making straight up hardcore street raps are saying two different things...dude was rapping about shooting ppl lol...that just wasn’t his style so @ the time ppl weren’t ready to accept that from him

word??

i always wondered why people kept criticizing LL for that.

i never heard the whole album.

Last part is collectively, as black folk. If you look at it in a historical perspective, our message gotten compromised on the mainstream, and never gotten better.

it was like LL doing an onyx/treach impression

when I first seen it

looking @ it almost 30 years later it doesn’t look that bad but @ the time it was a huge transformation for his image/music

This is exactly why he should’ve wrote an autobiography. So the next generation wouldn’t be so fukkin clueless about this nikka. And for the record, Pac shytted on LL so that’s most likely why he talkin shyt. Hell, to me I think that’s why he invented the GOAT acronym only for it to be placed on Pac anyways. Ol Clyde Drexler vs Jordan head ass nikka...:pachaha:

You don’t come from a Panther background, have straight up legends in your particular clan, go from impoverished Black city to impoverished Black city, soaking in all the despair, just to end up in Cali after coming close to that college dream and your mom is cracked out and you got no family. Homeless. Only the bottom rung of society helping you.

On some real shyt, 99% of y’all would’ve folded under those circumstances. Just because someone can articulate a position or they got exposed to different things does not negate their other side. How the fukk did Malcolm do all that street shyt after being the top student in an all White school?

Y’all some weirdo cacs frfr, not one real live certified G ever spoke down on Pac but y’all dweebs got the whole story? :russ:
