I seriously love this shet... they literally dedicate 3/4 of sports centre to hockey almost year long... we gonna get mad raptors games on tsn and tsn 2 and bonus nba coverage...

but even more importantly we dont have to deal with boring ass hockey highlights

man just today I was in an Indigo bookstore's sports section and they had a specific section for hockey. Where are the fukkin basketball and football sections at ?:what:

Canadians are generally close minded when it comes to other sports. Particularly ones they traditionally don't do well at.

I still cringe when I see curling highlights over basketball highlights.

the raptors are extremely popular in toronto even though they suck its one of the highest valued teams in the league... back when vince was blowin up B-ball realy got alot of play... but i agree the obsession with like junior hockey in canada and curling goes way overboard.

I would have agreed with this a couple years back but I got pretty into it last couple of seasons. NHL anyway fukk a junior league or whatever. Everybody round here is so die hard and with the NBA lockout last year I got into a fantasy league and it was a wrap from there. Plus goin to a live NHL game>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I wouldn't say they are extremely popular, otherwise you would see them get more coverage, but it is growing relatively fast. Once the older population dies off and the younger population becomes the primary demographic, I think you will see more and more attention given to the Raptors (over other teams) and basketball in general.

fukk hockey tho :pacspit:

I watched an interview when TSN interviewed Kris Joseph during the NCAA tournament and the first question they ask was if he played hockey. :childplease:

raptors are popular considering the corny ass squad they have had for years, always get a good crowd, even with expensive ass tickets

cfl aint that bad to watch its actually more exciting than the nfl just the way its broadcasted suck, players can start running their routes before the ball is snapped a bigger field, a passing league

A decent portion of the Raptors crowd in the lower bowl are forced to buy Raptors tix when they buy Leafs tix because it is hard to get em and there is a long waiting line for them.

The team does have a good fanbase tho, especially online.

They gotta do well this season to convert more casual/non-bball fans with the NHL lockout. Gotta take advantage of it.

I don't miss the NHL nearly as much I thought I would. My team was gonna be garbage this year anyways :manny:
This, not only has the on ice product gone to shyt but nearly every rivalriy has died out. What has also happened to all the stars? I remember the day where a serviceable journeymen on the 3/4 lines had enough "character" to stand out.Now if you aint in the top ten or a d-man the media are slobbering over you are nobody..

This lockout doesnt sting as much as the time the flames got hosed in the stanley cup..The league is terrible now besides we got nfl amd the nba is back tomorrow :heh:

Too many teams in shytty markets. I'm all for growing the game in the USA, but there are way to many teams south of St.Louis. Hopefully some of these southern teams will fold/relocate in the coming years.

That shyt annoys me to no end. TSN acts like playing hockey is some sort of right of passage for every Canadian. :beli:

Dont get me started on the lameness that is the CFL...Everything about this league screams bush league...from the goofy looking high school stadiums to the fact its 30 players in motion on every play to kicking the ball out the endzones to avoid conceding single points :wtf:

How can you respect a league where you know you make more money than the players do ?

Nothing about that league or game i can respect...

...True Story.... about an hour ago I was watching SportsCenter. CFL highlights came on and I had a thought, "Do you remember those days of innocence when you were an Argos fan? Now you need the big crowd and the bright lights and Pam Oliver...."

I kinda miss it, but I got soccer, football and basketball to worry about, and it'll be good to see other stuff get some burn on TSN, although they'll still have half a show talkin' about the lockout. I just like it because the white dudes at work are mad as shyt...me and another brotha roll in the lunchroom, like, "ball season tomorrow, bruh":smugbiden:

Plus, I'm a Leafs fan. I'm good if we take a season off. :shaq2:

I would say the reason they dont get more coverage is cuz they dont have any tradition in this city and they have sucked for most of there existance and the old boys netowork that runs TV and radio up here doesnt want to see basketball have a voice next to there maple syrup peameal bacon first love (hockey)

Thats why they dont ever tell you VC era Raptors drew ratings...
