caleb going 1st overall to the bears, but still doing a pro day
There's been more talk about the #1 potentially being traded than Arizona trading out of #4.

Even after the Fields trade.

Caleb also doesn't seem to care, he's got that confidence

Part of me is thinking the most successful WR this draft will be someone outside the top 10.

There is just so much hype on these top 3 and WR has the highest bust rate out of all positions when taken in the top 10.

Like I said before, I think it's unlikely all three are going to be as good as everyone thinks they will be. I've seen their tape too, but I don't think any of them are Megatron or Moss caliber where it doesn't matter the scheme and a QB can go their direction basically every time whether double coverage or not.

I'm wondering how big the gap will be in terms of production vs draft position.

Rashee Rice went 79-938-7 as a rookie. His numbers were in the same range as Zay Flowers and Addison who went in the 1st and Mar Olave and Garrett the year before.

MHJ, Nabers, and Odunze need to get 100-1500-10 to separate themselves and justify a top 10 pick.

A team like the Giants that has other needs should probably look to build the O line and get WR help later. If you can move down and get an additional 2nd or high 3rd you can grab 2 very good WR's.

So you don't see anything wrong with any of it? Initially he said he wasn't participating at the combine because he was going to work out at his pro day. Which isn't anything crazy, since guys usually rather work with guys they're familiar with. But then it was reported that he was a no show for team interviews. Now all of a sudden he's not working out at his schools pro day.

It's weird is all, and I'm sure other teams are wondering wtf too.

He's hiding that he's really 5' 7", can't catch, and runs a 4.95 :skip:

Seriously, he has years of tape. There's absolutely nothing he can show them at pro day good or bad. They know everything they need to know.

That's facts. I mean Puka Nacua was a 5th round pick last year.

Everyone likes to critique if any of these QB's can beat what Stroud did this year, but you can flip that and ask if any of these top 10 WR's beat what Puka did last year? Like if the Chargers draft a WR, there is nearly no excuse that guy should ball out right?

I agree too that some teams have a significant amount of holes (Chargers) that taking 1 WR or even a pair of rookies to cover for losing Keenan, Mike Williams, etc. seems like a stretch. That's just a lot of veteran nuance and leadership people think will be easy to replace.

Good breakdown on what happened:

Is there some risk there compared to some other 2nd round receivers, from Keon Coleman to Devontez Walker? Sure but man...watching the highlights and looking at his combine interview I'm sold. If my squad (Lions) took him in the second round I'd be thrilled.

My fear with him was I have deja vu to Traylon Burks. Who was also a less than polished, project type. Same type build Comped to AJ Brown-Deebo

However looking back Burks at 225lbs ran 4.55 and had a red flag combine that’s now showing in his black of production. The pedestrian 40, plus only a 33 inch vert.

Generally speaking I want WRs from blue chip programs who are great route runners and around other elite route runners: The OSU, Bama, LSA kids. But Legette is a great dice roll in round 2

Looked like a 65+ yard dagger. We've seen dude hit 70 yards back in high school though I think.

Had other good throws today.

The WR class is deep but it’s not as easy, at the top, to just ‘wait’ and get another. Tiers matter. WR1 vs WR2 projection matters. Where teams (and rankings) fail is they don’t use tiers and they don’t simply ask is a guy a potential WR2 or a WR1. Bc it’s a long list of guys who can give you WR2 production/attention from defenses. Not so much for WR1.

Fwiw my rankings in tiers but still in order

Tier 1- WR1 (top 10): MHJ, Nabors, Odunze

Tier 2- WR2 with legit WR1 upside (top 20): Brian Thomas

Tier 3- WR2 with lesser WR1 upside (Late 1st): AD Mitchell, Keon Coleman, Xavier Legette

Tier 4- Safe WR2 (Rd2): Mcconkey, Roman Wilson

Tier 5- Niche, WR2 upside (slot, deep threat, etc)- round 2 if it’s a need, otherwise round 3:

Worthy, Troy Franklin, Pearsall, Corley, Devontez Walker

Tier 6- WR3/niche- round 4 (tier is so large there’s no point in taking one in round 3)

Jermaine Burton, Jaylin Polk,Javon Baker,Jacob Cowing, Johnny Wilson, Jaylin McMillan, Malik Washington, Brenden Rice

I think WR's are being a little overrated.

If you're weak at DT, O-line, Edge, or CB that's what you need to take care of in a WR heavy draft.

Then people keep projecting Bowers to get taken high. Look at Kyle Pitts and you can see that's not worth it.
